The Will of
William Hipwell
In the Name of God Amen I
William Hipwell of Bourn in the
County of Cambridge Yeoman being
of sound disposing Mind and
Memory, Praised be God for the
same Do make and Ordain this my
last Will and Testament in
manner and following ffirst I
give and Devise all that my
Copyhold Messuage or Tenement
situate and being in Bourn
aforesaid and all other my
Messuages Cottages Lands and
Hereditaments lying within and
holden of the Manor of Bourn in
Bourn in the said County of
Cambridge with their
Appurtenances unto my loving
Wife Sarah Hipwell her Heirs and
Assigns for Ever [having
surrendered the same to the Use
of my Will] Item I give and
Devise my Messuage or Tenement
Close, Ringe of Wood and
ffourteen Acres of Arable Land
and all and singular my Copyhold
Estate lying within and holden
of the Manor of Hardwick in the
County of Cambridge and their
and every of their Appurtenances
unto my son Robert Hipwell his
Heirs and Assigns for Ever
[having surrendered the same to
the Use of my Will] Upon and
Under the express Condition that
he my said son Robert Hipwell
his Heirs and Assigns pay and
cause to be paid unto my son
Joseph Hipwell Twenty pounds of
Good and Lawfull Money of Great
Britain within one Year of my
decease Item I give and Bequeath
unto …………………………………..Also my
daughters Catherine ( now Wife
of Samuel Ivet of Bourne in the
County of Cambridge aforesaid
Carpenter) and Sarah Hipwell
each and either of them Twenty
pounds of Good and Lawfull Money
of Great Britain the said last
Eight Legacys making in the
whole One Hundred and Eighty
pounds to be paid by my Executor
herein after named within one
Year after my decease Item I do
hereby forgive Acquit and
Discharge my sd son William
Hipwell of and from all sum &
sums of Money dues Debts and
Demands whatsoever that is at
the Time Date & making of this
my Will due to me Item all the
rest & Residue of my Household
Stuff ffarming Stock Cattle
Goods Chattels & personal Estate
whatsoever & wheresoever which I
now have & hereafter shall or
may be possessed of and leave at
the time of my Decease I give
[after payment of my Legacys
aforesaid and ffuneral Expences]
unto my said Loving Wife Sarah
Hipwell and my said son Joshua
Hipwell part and share alike
whom I make Constitute and
appoint joint Executors of this
my last Will & testament Hereby
Revoking and making Void all
former & other Wills by me at
any time heretofore made In
Witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal the Twenty
