The Will of William Heather

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Heather of the Parish of Port Sea in the County of Southton Shipwright being in perfect health and senses do by these presents appoint my well beloved son Richard Heather being my Heir to be the Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament to dispose of all my Effects _ according to his discretion and according to my desire hereunto annexed I most humbly bequeath my Soul to God my maker beseeching his most Gratious Assistance through the Merits of the Lord Jesus Christ I commit my Body to the Grave in hopes of a joyous Resurrection this being my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the 17th day of May and in the Year of our Lord 1748 Wm Heather at Saint Thomas Hospital near London Sealed Published and Declared in the presence of Us Witnesses Thomas Knaggs Thos Kinchinman his mark Jos: Else
In the Name of God Amen I William Heather of the Parish of Port Sea in the County of Southton Shipwright being in perfect health and senses but in some pain in my Body with the Stone in my Bladder being desired to be Cut for that disorder tomorrow morning being the 17th Instant by Mr Girle do by these presents appoint my well beloved Son and Heir to be my Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament to dispose of all my Effects as is under expressed that is to ask and recover all such Sums of money as shall be due to me in the Governments Service and else where by any Persons or Person whatever And as to what money my Son Richard Heather have in his hands and what may be recovered by him of mine I desire may be equally divided to his Children as he shall judge proper as they shall behave themselves in Duty to God and Obedient to their Parents And as to my House and Goods for him to injoy during his life and his Wife after him if She should survive him during her Widowhood but if she should marry another Man then my Grandson William if living should possess the house paying to each of the other Children twenty pounds but if any of them should die before they possess their parts their parts should be equally divided to them living and that all the Goods should be equally divided to my Grandchildren if their Mother should marry another Man but if not to injoy the Use of it during her life And I do desire that the money and Rings and Cows and Horses may be delivered to my Grand Children as I have directed being in their ffather Hands and at their refusing it to let them know that it was left them in my Will I do declare that my grand Children should have each of them Suit of Mourning and all my Brother and Sister black Gloves I do desire that my Son should extend some Acts of Charity of my Substance as he should see proper to my two poor Nurses Susannah Heather and Sarah Dumbell this being my last Will and Testament I commit my Soul to my beloved reformer and my Body to the Grave in hopes of a joyfull Resurrection I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal the 17th day of May 1748 Wm Heather
