The Will of Richard Haynes

 

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Haynes of Hooknorton in the County of Oxford Taylor being but weak and poorly in body but of perfect sound mind memory and understanding blessed be God do this day make publish and ordain this my last will and testament in manner following (that is to say) first I will that all my just debts and burial expences to be paid and discharged by my executor hereinafter named I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Ann Haynes the use of all my household goods and furniture for and during the term of her natural life Also I give and bequeath unto my said wife the benefit or profit arising from my said apprentice Thomas Jones during the remainder of his time after my decease I give and bequeath unto my son David Haynes my wearing apparel after my wifes decease I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Susanna Haynes the Bed Bedstead Curtains and one pair of blankets in the room over the house I give and bequeath unto my Son George Haynes the Bed Bedstead and one pair of blankets in the work room Also I give and bequeath unto my Son George Haynes the furnace and one large barrel all the rest of my household goods and furniture hereinbefore not disposed of I give and bequeath unto my Daughter Susanna and my daughter Elizabeth Haynes and my Son George Haynes to be equally divided between them three share and share alike all my stock in trade Also I give and bequeath unto my Nephew William Haynes nevertheless upon trust for such uses intents and purposes herein after mentioned (that is to say to sell and dispose of the same in the best way and manner he can and the money so raised to be applied in the payment of my just debts and funeral expences and if it happen that there shall be any money remain over the payment of my just debts and funeral expences) then and in that case I give and bequeath one half of the remainder unto my said wife Ann Haynes and the other half I give and bequeath to all my children to be equally divided between them share and share alike And lastly I do hereby constitute ordain and appoint my said Nephew William Haynes above mentioned sole Executor of this my last will and testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this seventh day of March one thousand eight hundred and nine Richd Haynes
