This is the last Will and Testament of me
Aaron Hatch of Kingston in the parish of Portsea in the County
of Southampton late Licensed Victualler and now a Grocer made
whilst in a good state of health and of sound and disposing mind
memory and understanding whereby I dispose of al my real and
personal estate and effects in manner following that is to say
and first I charge all my personal estate with and to payment of
my joint debts funeral expenses and the costs and charges of
proving this my Will I give and devise all my messuages lands
and hereditaments with their respective rights members and
appurtenances and all other my real estate whatsoever and
wheresoever situated that I may be interested in or entitled to
at the time of my decease unto my said dear wife Mary Hatch To
hold the same to her my said dear wife Mary Hatch for and during
the time and term of her natural life And from and immediately
after the decease of her my said dear wife Mary Hatch I give and
devise all my said messuages lands tenements and hereditaments
with their respective rights members and appurtenances and all
other my said real estate whatsoever and wheresoever situated as
aforesaid unto and equally between my sons and daughters namely
William Hatch Henry Hatch Charlotte the wife of James Purkis of
Portsea aforesaid Shipwright Emma the wife of John Bramsden of
Portsea aforesaid Brewer and George Hatch To hold the same to
them my said Sons and Daughters said William Hatch Henry Hatch
Charlotte Purkis Emma Bramsden and George Hatch their Heirs and
assigns for ever as tenants in common and not as joint tenants I
give and bequeath all my household goods and furniture of
household plate linen china books prints and pictures monies and
securities for money, money payable by reason of my death from
the License Victualler’s Association The Good Samaritan Society
of the Sawyers Dockyard Association or any other Society or
Association and all other my personal estate whatsoever and
wheresoever unto my Son and Sons in Law the said William Hatch
John Bramsden and James Purkis their executors administrators
and assigns Upon trust to permit and suffer my said dear wife
Mary Hatch to have the use and usage of my said household goods
and furniture of household plate linen china books prints and
pictures and to receive and take the interest dividends and
proceeds of all my said monies and securities for money for and
during the time and term of her natural life And from and
immediately after her decease I give and bequeath my linen and
the wearing apparel of my said dear Wife unto and equally
between my said two daughters the said Charlotte Purkis and Emma
Bramsdon And all my said household goods and furniture of
household plate linen books prints pictures monies and
securities for money and all the rest residue and remainder of
my personal estate and effects I give and bequeath unto and
equally between my said Sons and Daughters the said William
Hatch Henry Hatch Charlotte Purkis Emma Bramsden and George
Hatch to and for their own use and benefit absolutely And I
hereby direct that they my said Trustees shall be responsible
only for so much money as they respectively shall actually
receive and not the one for the other of them and each of them
only for his own separate acts deeds receipts and defaults only
and not the one for the other or others of them neither shall
either of them my said Trustees be answerable for any loss that
shall happen to my aforesaid Estate and Effects unless the same
shall happen through his or their wilful neglect or default And
that they my said Trustees shall reimburse themselves and
himself all necessary costs and expenses that they or either of
them may be put to in the execution of the trusts of this my
Will I devise all the real estate vested in me as mortgagee or
Trustee to my said Trustees subject to the /ities affecting the
same respectively And I hereby nominate and appoint my said
Trustees the said William Hatch John Bramsden and James Purkis
Executors of this my Will and hereby revoking all former and
other wills by me made I declare this only to contain my last
Will and Testament In witness whereof I the said Aaron Hatch the
Testator have to this and the foregoing sheet of paper set my
hand this thirtieth day of August one thousand and eight hundred
and fifty The mark x of Aaron Hatch signed sealed published and
declared by the said Aaron Hatch the Testator /o and for his
last will and Testament on the day of the date in the presence
of us who at his request in his presence and in the presence of
each other present at the same time have hereunto subscribed our
names as Witnesses the interlineation of the words “I give and
bequeath” in the ninth line of this sheet being first made. G.C.

On the thirty first day of December 1858
the Will of Aaron Hatch late of Kingston in the parish of
Portsea in the County of Southampton Licensed Victualler
deceased was proved by the Oaths of John Bramsden and James
Purkis Sons in Law of the said deceased two of the Executors
named in the said will having been first sworn duly to
administer Power being reserved of making the like Grant to
William Hatch son of the said deceased the other Executor named
in the said Will whenever he shall apply for the same
