In the name of God Amen the sixteenth day of
August in the year of our Lord 1727 I James Harrocks of Aughton in
the County of Lancaster butcher do make and ordain this my last will
& testament in manner following (viz). First it is my will and mind
that my debts (if any) funeral expenses & the probate of this my
last will and testament be first paid out of my personal estate and
the residue and remainder thereof I give & bequeath to & amongst my
younger sort of children John, James, Joshua, Jane & Elizabeth
Harrocks equally amongst them share & share alike. And whereas I am
seized and possessed of a messuage & tenement lying & being in
Aughton aforesaid belonging to the old house where now I live I hold
the lease under the right honourable Lord Viscount Molyneaux I give
& bequeath the same unto Sarah my wife during the term of her
natural life (if the lives in the said lease or any of them so long
live) and after her decease I give the said messuage & tenement unto
my eldest son Thomas Harrocks for the remainder of the term in the
said lease he paying the sum of thirty pounds at the time he enters
thereupon unto & amongst my younger sort of children, (viz) John
James Joshua Jane & Elizabeth Harrocks share and share alike. And
whereas I hold by lease under the said Lord Molyneaux another parcel
of ground called Tail Heys widow Snape & Bri?bs I give the same to
John, James, Joshua, Jane & Elizabeth Harrocks equally amongst them
share and share alike. And lastly I do nominate & appoint my loving
wife Sarah, my son John and Edward Barton of Aughton aforesaid
executors of this my last will & testament hoping they will see the
same carefully performed as my trust is in them reposed. In witness
whereof I the said James Harrocks have hereunto subscribed my hand &
put my seal the day & year first above written.
