The Will of James Hannell

 

In the Name of God Amen I James Hannell of Redborn in the County of Hertford Gentleman being Well in Body and in Perfect Remembrance Praised be God for the same Doe make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and forme following And first and principally I Doe recommend my Spoul to Almighty God hopeing through the Meritts and Passion of Jesus Christ to have free pardon and remission of all my Sinns And as to my body I desire to be buried at Redbourn in A decent manner at the discretion of mine Executor hereafter mentioned And as touching that worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me with I dispose thereof as followeth Item I give and bequeath All and every my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments lying and being in the Parish of Redborn in the County of Hertford And also I give more Two Hundred Pounds of money in Mr William Bristowe’s hands and more One hundred pounds in the hands of Mr Philip ffields at Barton in the Clay and more ffourscore pounds more in the hands of William Bury and Edward Bury Att Harding All the aforesaid Legacyes I give and bequeath to my Cosen James Allen son of Thomas Allen of Boxmore in the County aforesaid Item I give and bequeath unto John Allen son of Thomas Allen and brother to the said James Allen All that my Messuage and Tenements at Bourn and in the parish of Northchurch in the County aforesaid And also I give unto him the Sume of ffour hundred pounds which lyes upon James Halsey’s ffarm at Little Heath in the County aforesaid And also I give unto the said John Allen Junior One hundred pounds which lyes upon John James his house at Barkhamsted St Peters And I doe nominate & appoint my wellbeloved ffriends John ffeild and William ffeild at ffeilds End in the County aforesaid to be Trustees for the said John Allen the Younger and the aforesaid James untill they Attain the Age of One and Twenty years They the said John ffeild and William ffeild to give in their Accounts to my Executor and Trustee once in Three years Item I give unto my Neece Mary Creswell One pounds ffive shillings to be paid her Quarterly dureing her naturall life by mine Executor Item I give unto William Allen my Kinsman Six pounds per annum to be paid quarterly by mine Executor Item I give unto James Hannell my Kinsman who dwells at Canterbury the Sume of ten pounds in money to be paid by mine Executor Item I give unto Ann Smith wife to ffrancis Smith one shilling And I give unto her Sister Catherine Cock of Aldenham One Shilling Item I give unto my Wife Dorothy Hannell the Sume of ffive shiilings Item I give unto Sarah Allen the Daughter of Thomas Allen the Sume of ffifty pounds in money to be paid to her at her Age of Eighteen And I appoint the Trustees aforesaid to take care of James Allen and John Allen and Sarah Allen that they be brought up to School and be well educated Item I give unto William Allen all my wearing Apparrell Linnens and Woolens And I doe nominate and Appointe my Kinsman Thomas Allen my lawfull Executor of these my last Will and Testament revokeing All former Wills by me made And I doe give to my Executor All my personall Estate and all my goods at Mr Edmunds in the parish of St Stephens and all other my personall estate not formerly disposed of Witness my hand this 15 day of June 1714 having sett my hand to Two sheets of paper being the full of my last Will and Testament James Hannell Sealed and delivered in the Presence of us
