ECCLES. 1800 (proved 1806).

This is the last Will and Testament of me
Samuel HAMPSON of ECCLES within Barton upon Irwell in the County
of Lancaster Cordwainer in manner following, that is to say,
First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expences and
the charge of the probate hereof shall be paid and discharged as
soon as conveniently can be after my decease. Next from and
after payment and satisfaction thereof then I give devise and
bequeath unto my Daughter Mary PICKUP All those my two Messuages
Cottages or Dwellinghouses situate standing and being in Lombard
Street within Manchester in the said county with their
appurtenances To hold unto my said Daughter Mary Pickup and her
assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from
after the decease of my said daughter I give and bequeath the
said Two Messuages Cottages or Dwellinghouses with their
appurtenances unto the children of my said daughter their
respective Executors Administrators and Assigns as tenants in
common and not as joint tenants but if there is only one child
of my said daughter then I give devise and bequeath the same Two
Messuages Cottages or Dwellinghouses with their appurtenances
unto such only child his or her Executors Administrators and
Assigns for and during all my estate term and Interest thereon
respectively provided always that my said Daughter Mary Pickup
shall die without leaving child or children or the lawful issue
of any child or children then and in such case it is my will and
mind that the said Two Messuages Cottages or Dwellinghouses with
their appurtenances shall go and I do hereby give and bequeath
the same unto my two daughters Alice COLLIER and Ellen HANKINSON
their Executors Administrators and assigns as tenants in common
and not as joint tenants.
Also I do hereby give devise and bequeath unto my said daughter
Alice Collier and her Assigns for and during the term of her
natural life All that Messuage Cottage or Dwellinghouse situate
standing and being in Red Lion Street in Manchester aforesaid
now in the holding or possession of George BRADSHAW his assigns
and undertenants And from and immediately after her death or
decease I give and devise the same unto her son Samuel COLLIER
his heirs and assigns for ever for such term and Interest as I
have of in and unto the same. Also give and bequeath unto my
daughter Alice the sum of one hundred pounds to be paid
immediately after my decease.
Also I do hereby give devise and bequeath unto my daughter Ellen
Hankinson and her Assigns and during the term of her natural
life All that Messuage Cottage or Dwellinghouse situate and
being in Pendleton in the said County of Lancaster now in the
holding and possession of Ellis POLLITT his Assigns or
undertenants. And from and immediately on her death or decease I
give and devise the same unto her eldest son then living his
Heirs and Assigns for ever and for want of such son then unto
her Eldest daughter her heirs and assigns for ever. Also I give
and bequeath unto my said Daughter Ellen the sum of one hundred
and twenty pounds to be paid immediately after my decease.
Also I give and bequeath unto my Wife Elizabeth one bed
bedstocks and all necessary bedding And the remainder of my
household goods and furniture beds and bedding and all my stock
in trade of what nature or kind whatsoever I do hereby give and
bequeath the same unto and equally amongst my said three
daughters Mary Alice and Ellen their respective Executors and
Administrators share and share alike and thereby order my
executors hereinafter named to pay unto my said Wife one hundred
pounds according to my bond or settlement made unto her Trustee
or Trustees before our intermarriage.
Also I give and bequeath unto her my said Wife and her Assigns
for and during the term of her natural life, in case she keeps
herself single and unmarried, one annuity from monies out at
Interest or yearly sum of ten pounds in lieu and full
satisfaction of all dower or thirds at Common Law which she can
claim out of my real estate the same to be paid unto her by four
even and equal payments the first payment thereof to begin and
be paid at the end of three months next after my decease
provided that if my said Wife happens to intermarry again then I
hereby order the same annuity or yearly sum of ten pounds to
cease and be no further paid unto her until she becomes widow
again, in which case I do hereby order and direct my said
Executors to pay her the same again in manner aforesaid.
And all the interest monies to arise from the remainder of my
personal estate, after payment of the same yearly sum of ten
pounds I hereby order and direct my said Executors to give pay
and divide unto and equally amongst my said daughters share and
share alike on every the first day of May until my said Wife's
decease, but if any of my said daughters should happen to die
before the death of my said wife then her part or share so dying
to be paid unto her issue share and share alike but if no issue
then unto the survivors of my said daughters share and share
alike. And from immediately after my said Wife's decease I do
give and bequeath all the said remainder of my personal estate
unto and equally amongst my said three daughters or their issue
if any of them be dead such issue taking their mother's part or
share so dying share and share alike but if no issue then unto
the survivor of my said daughters share and share alike.
And lastly I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my Nephew
William FOGG of Davy Hulme in the said parish of Eccles Executor
of this my last Will and Testament. In Witness thereof the said
Testator have to this Will written upon three sheets of writing
paper set my hand to the two first sheets thereof and my hand
and seal to the third and last sheet thereof the nineteenth day
of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred.

The 29th September 1806 William FOGG the
sole Executor in this Will named was sworn in common Form and he
further made Oath that the personal Estate and Effects of the
Testator within the Diocese of Chester were under the value of
1500£ before me, Samuel Hale, surrogate.
The Testator died the 17th Day of September instant. |
