Transcript Will of Elisabeth HAMPSON of
ECCLES 1807 ( Proved 1808).

I, Elisabeth HAMPSON, widow, of Barton
upon Irwell, in the Parish of ECCLES, in the County of
Lancaster, Considering the uncertainty of this mortal Life, and
being of sound and disposed mind and Memory, thanks be given to
Almighty God, for the same, Do make, publish and declare this my
last Will and Testament, in manner and form following (That is
to say)
First, and Principally, I commend my Soul into the Hands of
Almighty God who gave it, hoping through the Merits, Death and
Passion, of my Saviour Jesus Christ, to have full and free
pardon, and forgiveness of all my Sins, and to inherit
everlasting Life, and my Body, I commit to the Earth, to be
decently buried at the discretion of my Executors, hereinafter
named, And as to Such Temporal Estate, as it hath pleased God to
bestow upon me, I Give and Dispose thereof, as followeth,
First, it is my Will and mind, that all my Just Debts, funeral
Expences, and the Charges of proving this my last Will and
Testament be paid, and discharged, out of my Personal Estate,
Then, I Give, Devise and bequeath, unto my Nephew William FOGG,
One Pair of Chest of Drawers for himself and Likewise one half
of the Money I die possessed of, the same to be divided share
and share alike, between him, the Said William Fogg, and his
Brother Lawrence FOGG, and his three Sisters, Namely Ann HALL,
Ellen FOGG and Jenny FOGG, the same to be divided, share and
share alike, within the Space of one month, next after my
Decease.
Then I Give, Devise and Bequeath, unto my Niece Alice LOMAX, of
Davy-hulme, the other half of the money I die Possessed of to be
paid unto her, my said Niece Alice Lomax by my Executors
hereinafter named, within one month, next after my Decease, and
also, I give and bequeath unto my Niece Alice Lomax, such of my
Wearing Apparel, as are here mentioned as follows, That is to
say, One Pair of Stays, One black Sattin Cloak, One Black Gown,
another two Printed Gowns, one Shay Hat, One Sattin Hat, and one
Silk Bonnet, the same to be delivered unto her my said Niece
Alice Lomax, by my Executors, within one month next after my
decease,
Then I give, Devise and bequeath, unto Alice KNIGHT the Wife of
William Knight, One pair of Black Jumps, One black Gown or black
Silk Handkerchief, and a Silk Hood and Tippets, to be delivered
unto her Alice Knight, by my Executors, within one month next
after my Decease, the remainder of my Wearing Apparel, I give
and bequeath unto my three Nieces, That is to Say, Ann Hall,
Ellen Fogg and Jenny Fogg, share and share alike, to be
delivered unto them, by my Executors, within one month next
after my decease.
Also it is my Will and Mind, and I order and direct, that my
Hang Bed Steads, and all the Bedding thereunto belonging,
together, with half a Dozen Silver Teaspoons, be equally divided
share and share alike between my Nephew William Fogg, and my
Niece Alice Lomax, within one month next after my decease.
Lastly I nominate, Constitute, and appoint, William FOGG my
Nephew, of Davy-hulme, and John SHAWCROSS of Barton upon Irwell,
both in the Parish of Eccles, and County of Lancaster Executors
of this my last Will and Testament, hoping they will duely and
truely Execute the Same, as my trust is in them reposed, and I
do Hereby revoke all other Will, or Wills, and declare this to
be my last, In Witness whereof, I the said Elisabeth Hampson the
Testatrix, have hereunto Sett my hand, and Seal, this ninth Day
of November in the Year of Our Lord, One Thousand Eight Hundred,
and Seven,
Signed, Sealed, published, and declared by the Said Testatrix,
to be her last Will and Testament, in the presence, of us, who
subscribe our names, as Witnesses thereto, in presence of the
Said Testatrix, and in the presence of each other, some Measures
and Interlineating having first been made, the word God between
the 13th and 14 Line, in the First Page, and the Word (Himself,
between the 19th and 20 Line on the First Page and the Word (in)
between the 28th and 29 Line, on the First Page, and all
interlined, before the Execution of this Will.

The Third Day of December 1808 William
FOGG and John SHAWCROSS the Executors in this Will named were
sworn in common form and they further made Oath that the
personal Estate and Effects of the Testator within the Diocese
of Chester were under the value of one hundred Pounds.
Before me, Jos. Brookes, Surrogate.
The Testator died Nov 23 1808.
