The Will of Mary Hale

 

This  is the last will and testament of me MARY HALE of Kirkby Hill in the County of York, spinster. I give all my wearing apparel and body linen trinkets and other ornaments of the person to my neice  MARY HALE SWETNAM to be delivered to her at the discretion of my executors. And I also give to her the legacy of £100. I give to my three nephews WILLIAM VALENTINE SWETNAM, ROBERT SWETNAM, and THOMAS SWETNAM each the sum of £50 and I direct the interest of all the aforesaid legacies to be applied to my executor in and towards their maintenance and education until they shall attain respectively the age of 21 years and in case of the death of one or more of them .... I declare the legacy then so dying shall go to the survivors ... all the rest and residue and remainder of my estate ..... I do give and bequeath to my nephew GEORGE SAMUEL SWETNAM with the life power for my executor to apply the interest on or towards his maintenance and education during his minority .... I appoint my friend Mr JOHN LAMBERT of Kirkby Hill sole executor ... In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 5th February 1835

Proved at London 24 October 1835 on the oath of John Lambert.
