This is the last Will and Testament of me Herbert Haffner of Derby Builder and Coal Dealer First I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses to be paid by my Executors out of my personal estate as soon as conveniently may be after my decease and subject to such payments I give and bequeath the whole of my personal estate of whatever kind or nature the same may be or to which I may be possessed & entitled at the time of my decease Unto my Dear Wife Thirza Haffner for her own absolute use free from the debts control or engagements of any husband with whom she may at any time hereafter intermarry I give and devise unto my two friends Robert Thomas Harrison of Derby Boot Maker and John Corker of the same place Ironfounder All that Messuage or dwellinghouse with the Yard outbuildings and appurtenances situate in Curzon Street in Derby aforesaid and now in my own occupation And also all other if any real estate of or to which I may be possessed or entitled at the time of my decease Upon trust to permit my said Wife to occupy the same or to receive the rents and profits thereof for and during the term of her natural life And upon her decease I direct that my said Trustees shall cause my said real estate to be sold either by public auction or private contract for the best price that can be obtained for the same and after paying the expenses of and incident to such sale and the incumbrances affecting the same Upon trust to pay and divide the residue unto and between my two daughters Emma the Wife of John Hebb and Thirza now residing with me And I direct that the respective receipts of my said Daughters Emma and Thirza shall be a good discharge to my said Trustees for all monies paid to them under this my Will and that their respective shares of the proceeds of the same of my real estate shall be received by them free from and independent of the debts control or engagements of any husband with whom they or either of them may at any time have intermarried And I further direct that if the sale of my said real estate shall take place before my daughter Thirza shall attain the age of twenty one years or marry my said Trustees shall invest the share to which she shall be entitled in Government real or other good and substantial security and shall pay or appropriate the interest or other proceeds thereof to or for the use and benefit of my said daughter Thirza until she shall attain the said age of twenty one years or marry as aforesaid And I further empower my said Trustees to make such advances out of such share to or for the benefit of my said daughter Thirza until she shall attain her majority or marry as they in their discretion shall think advisable I appoint the said Robert Thomas Harrison and John Corker and my said Wife Executors and Executrix of this my Will And I hereby revoke all former Wills by me at any time heretofore made and declare this only to be my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand this twenty seventh day of January one thousand eight hundred and seventy three-Herbert Haffner

Proved at Derby the 20th day of August 1878 by the Oath of Thirza Haffner the Relict one of the Executors to whom Administration was granted Robert Thomas Harrison and John Corker the other Executors named in the Will having duly renounced the Probate and Execution thereof

The Testator Herbert Haffner was late of No 18 Curzon Street, Derby, Builder and died on the sixth day of September 1873 at No 18 Curzon Street, Derby aforesaid
