This is the Last Will and Testament of me John Grover of Alton in the County of Southampton Collarmaker whereby I commend my Soul to God and dispose of my wordly Estate in manner following (that is to say) First I will and direct that all my just Debts and funeral Expences be first paid and satisfied by my Executors out of my personal Estate And I do hereby make nominate constitute and appoint my beloved Wife Sarah and my daughter Jane and my good friends John Eggar and William Christmas both of East Worldham Hants Yeomen Executors of this my Will Also I give and bequeath unto my said Wife the Sum of Twenty pounds of Lawful Money of Great Britain And also akk my Stock of Fuel Liquors and Victuals in my House at my decease for the present support of herself and such of my family as shall be living in my House at my decease Also I give and bequeath unto my said Wife Sarah one Annuity or Yearly Sum of Fifty Pounds of Lawful Money of Great Britain to be payable and paid to her by four equal quartely paymens on Michaelmas day Christmas day Lady day and Midsummer day yearly for and during the Term of her natural Life if she shall so long continue my Widow but if my said Wife shall marry again then I give and bequeath to her an Annuity or yearly Sum of Thirty pounds only during the Term of her natural Life payable quarterly as aforesaid The first of the said quarterly payments of the aforesaid Annuity of Fifty pounds to be paid to my said Wife on such of the said quarter days as shall happen next after my decease Also I give and devise unto my daughter Jane All That my Messuage Tenement or Dwellinghouse with the Hereditaments and Appurtances thereunto belonging wherein I now live in Alton and which I purchased of and from John Hipkin To hold to her my said Daughter Jane for and furing the Term of her natural Life and from and after the Decease of my said Daughter Jane I give and devise the same premises unto the Heirs of the Body of my said Daughter Jane lawfully to be begotten and for want of such Issue then to the right Heirs of my said Daughter Jane for ever Also I give devise and bequeath unto my said Executors my Leasehold Houses and premises in Alton which I purchased of my Son John and which he purchased of and from Jacob Lasham To hold to them my said Executors during the natural Life of the said Jacob Lasham upon Trust to receive the rents Issues and Profits thereof and after payment of the Annuity of Thirteen pounds charges thereon which is payable to the said Jacob Lasham for his life upon Trust to apply the residue of the money arising by the rents of the said premises if any in the same manner as the Interest of any Monies is hereinafter directed to be applied And from and after the decease of the said Jacob Lasham I give and devise and bequeath the said Leasehold Houses and premises and all my Estate and Interest therein unto my Son John Grover his Executors Administrators' and Assigns.

And as to for and concerning All That my House Hereditaments and Premises which I purchased of Thomas Godwin in Alton and my Houses Lands and premises in Newton Valence and elsewhere in the Kingdom of Great Britain I give devise and bequeath the same unto my said Wife Sarah my said Daughter Jane and my said friends John Eggar and William Christmas To hold to them and their Heirs Executors Administrators and Assigns according to my Estate and Interest in the said premises respectively Upon Trust that they and the Survivors and Survivor of them and the Heirs of such Survivor do and shall sell the same when and as soon after my decease as they in their discretion shall see fitting and expedient either by public Auction or by private Sale and do and shall apply the Money arising thereby as hereinafter as directed Also I give to my said Executors and Trustees all my household Goods and furniture Linnen of every kind Stock in Trade money and Securities for money and all other the residuum of my personal Estate Upon Trust nevertheless and I do hereby will and direct that they my said Executors and Trustees do and shall convert all my said personal Estate into Money and do and shall place the same together with the Money to arise by the Sale of my real Estates and at Interest on such Security as they in their discretion shall think proper and out of the Interest on such Security as they in their discretion shall think proper and out of the Interest arising thereby or out of part of the principal if necessary do and shall pay the Annuity hereinbefore given to my Wife as aforesaid and after payment thereof do and shall yearly and every year during the natural Life of my said Wife equally divide the residue of Interest Monies to arise as aforesaid equally between my Children Lucy the Wife of John Mansell, Sarah the Wife of Robert Harrow and Ann the Wife of William White and my said Daughter Jane share and share alike And from and after the Decease of my said Wife I give and bequeath all the principal monies then remaining unto and equally to be divided between them my said Daughters Lucy Mansell Sarah Harrow Ann White and Jane Grover share and share alike But I direct and declare that it is my Will and Intention that the receipt and receipts of my said Daughters Lucy Sarah Ann and Jane shall be good and sufficient Discharges for the said shares of Interest monies without the present or any future Husbands of my said Daughters joining therein and also for the shares of principal monies when they become payable and that neither the principal or Interest monies aforesaid shall be liable to the Debts Controul Management or Engagements of the said Husbands of my said Daughters respectively And I also direct that until my said Estates shall be sold the Rents and Profits thereof shall be applied as the Interest of my monies is hereinbefore directed to be applied and disposed of And I declare that my reason for mot giving my married Daughters by this my Will is because I have already advanced them money on and since their Marriages respectively And the reason I have not given my Son John more is because I have already advanced him a cosiderable Sum of money which he has idly wasted And I also direct that the Receipt and Receipts of my said Trustees or either of them shall be good and sufficient discharge and good and sufficient discharges to the purchaser or purchasers of all any or either of my said Estates hereinbefore by me directed to be sold without the purchaser or purchasors concerning himself herself or themselves with the Misapplication or non application of the purchase Money And that my said Trustees and Executors shall not be answerable for any Loss that may happen to the said Trust Monies by bad Securities or otherwise without their wilful andapparent Neglect or Default and that the one of them shall not be answerable or accountable for the Acts Receipts and Miscarriages pnly in the Execution of this my Will and the Trusts hereby in them reposed And also that they my said Executors shall be at Liberty to deduct and retain to their own use out of the Money that shall come to their Hands all their reasonable COsts Charges and Expenses as they shall be at or put unto in the Execution of the Trusts hereby in them reposed And I do hereby revoke all former Wills by me at anytime hertofore made In Witness whereof I the said John Grover (the Testator) have to this my last Will and Testament contained in this and the two preceding sheets of paper set my Hand and Seal (that is to say) to the two first sheets my Hand and to this last Sheet my Hand and Seal the Twenty third Day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and Ninety two.
