The Will of Ambrose Gregory

 

In the name of God Amen I Ambrose Gregory of Evershalt in the county of Bedf yeoman being rationally capable in mind & memery do make this my will & testament in manner & forme following I Give & bequeath my soule & body unto God my creator desiring that I may have a blessed resurrection in the righteousness of Jesus Christ As for my worldly goods which God hath Lent me I give as followeth: I give unto my son John Gregory and his heires the money that

I did posess of and my dwelling house & homestead adjoyning to it where I now live in and all that my pasture grounds called by the name of Stocking Lying in Pottersand and ****** or ground lying in marymead ffeild and also all my Arable Land & meadow except on halfe acre of Arable Land lying at ***** morelands and my will is that my son John Gregory doe pay out of his estate (aforesaid Given him)unto my son Thomas Gregory ffourescore pounds of good and lawfull money of England; and unto my son Ambrose Gregory threescore pounds of good & lawfull money of England and unto my son Joseph Gregory ffourty pounds of lawfull money of England And my will is that my son John Gregory pay the aforesaid sums of money or legacies unto my aforesaid sons Thomas Ambrose and Joseph when they shall severally ataine to the age of two and twenty yeares I give unto my son James Gregory and his heires my houses & grounds which of late was in the Occupation of John Lemford and also a pighte adjoyning to it comonly caled by the name of Coale Pigstell and also on halfe acre of arable land lying near sedmore lane and in west feild and my will is that my son James Gregory doe pay unto my son Joseph Gregory twenty pounds of good and lawfull money of England and also unto my son William Gregory threescore pounds of good & lawfull money of England when they shall severally ataine to the age of two & twenty yeares but if either or any of my sons dies unmarried before the time set to receive his money aforesaid then his Legacie is to be equally divided amongst the rest; but if either of them die they being married before the time set for the receiving of theire legacies then the deceased son's heire or child if any shall have his legacie

I give unto my wife & my son John Gregory my household goods and stocke that is ungiven but if my wife shall marry againe then she is to *****all her part of the goods and stocke unto my son John Gregory and I doe make my wife and my son John Gregory Joynt Executors of this my will & testament Sealed with my seale this 9th day of may in the year of our Lord God 1681
