The Will of John Gerrard

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Gerrard, Farmer and Miller of Ellastone in the County of Stafford made this sixth day of October, One thousand eight hundred and sixty. I nominate and appoint Benjamin Finney and Joseph Udale both of Ellastone in the county of Stafford executors of this my Will. I direct that all my just debts and funeral and Testamentary Expenses to be paid as soon as convenient after my decease. I give, devise and bequeath all my freehold property situated in the Parish of Mayfield in the county of Stafford, now in the occupation of John Broalch also all my farming stock, stock in trade, household furniture whatsoever and wheresoever to my beloved children, John, Mary, Elizabeth, William, Walter, Joseph, Sarah, Ann and Thomas, to be divided equally share and share alike with the exception that my daughter Elizabeth shall recieve Ten Pounds Sterling more than any of the others. My Freehold property at Mayfield in the Parish of Mayfield aforesaid to be sold by auction or private contract as my executors may think best for the advantage of my children. Should any of the before mentioned children die during my decease without leaving lawful issue, then their legacy, so dying, as well original as accruing to go to the survivors of them, but in the case of their dying, as aforesaid, but leaving lawful issue, then their share as well original as accruing to go to the lawful children of such person so dying, share and share alike. I also hereby revoke and make null and void all former Wills made by me, declaring this to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof I have written this aforesaid last Will and Testament on one sheet of paper, and set my hand and seal on the day and year first written.
