In
the name of God, Amen.
In the third year of the
reign of our sovereign
Lord and Lady William
and Mary, by the grace
of God over England,
Scotland, France and
Ireland, King and Queen,
defenders of the faith,
the eighth day of July
Anno one thousand six
hundred and ninety two,
I, Thomas George of the
parish of Croscombe in
the county of Somerset,
clothier, being weak in
body but in perfect mind
and memory, thanks be to
God for the same, do
make and ordain this my
last will and testament
in writing in manner and
form as following
First, I bequeath my
soul into the hands of
Almighty God my creator
and Jesus Christ my
redeemer by whose
merits, death and
passion I steadfastly
believe to enjoy life
everlasting and for my
body to be buried at the
discretion of my
executor
Item, I give unto my
well beloved wife Anne
George all my chattel
leases in the parish of
Croscombe for term of
her life
Item, I give unto Anne
George my wife all my
household goods in my
now dwelling house
Item, I give unto Anne
my wife two hundred
pounds to be paid in six
months after my decease
Item, I give unto my son
John all my leases in
the parish of Pennard
Item, I give unto my son
John my mills and mill
harness by John Moore’s
mill after the decease
of his mother
Item, I give to my son
John one hundred pounds
to be paid at the age of
one and twenty years
Item, I give to my
daughter Anne two
hundred and fifty pounds
to be paid at her day of
marriage or the age of
one and twenty years
which first shall happen

daughter Elizabeth two
hundred and fifty pounds
to be paid at her day of
marriage or at the age
on one and twenty as it
shall first happen
And my will is that if
my daughter Anne of my
daughter Elizabeth or my
son John do die before
the money is due to be
paid, then it shall
remain to my executor

equally divided in three
parts
