In the name of God Amen the thirteenth day of Marche in the one and twentieth yare of the raigne of o’r most gracious sov’raigne Lord Charles by the grace of God king of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the faith Anno D’mi 1645 I Ellen Garstange widowe late wyfe of James Garstange late of Newton in Mackerfeild in the Countie of Lancaster yeoman deceased being sicke in bodie but of good & p’fecte memorie God bee praised doe make this my last will and Tes’ament in manner and forme followinge  First I Committ and Comend my soule into the handes of Almightie God my maker and redeemer hopeing by the onely merritte of Jesus Christ to be saved at the last day and to bee made p’taker of lyfe everlasting and my bodie to the earth to bee buried at or in the parrish Church of Winwicke in decent & Comely mann’r at the discretion of my freinds  It’m as Conc’ring such goodes as the lord hath blessed mee w’thall my will and mynd is to dispose thereof in manner and forme followinge  First my will and desire is that my fun’rall expences shalbee taken out of my whole goodes  It’m my fun’rall expences discharged I give to the Children of John Maddocke my brother to be equally devyded amongst them the some of sixteene pounds of lawfull money of England  It’m I give to Ellen Maddocke daughter of John Maddocke my brother one violet coulloured petticoate w’th fyne laces aboute  It’m I give to John Maddocke sone of James Maddocke of Senelley greene 40s  It’m I give to Margret Maddocke daughter of the said James Maddocke of Senellet greene aforesaid twentie shillings  It’m I give to everie one that I am godmother unto twelve pence apeece and to Ellen Jackson 2s  6d  It’m I give to Elizabeth Bichall widdowe late wyfe of William Birchall of Leverpoole deceased the some of twentie shillings of lawfull money of England and my best worke day petticoate  It’m I give to Anne Maddocke my sister-in-law my rydeinge sute  It’m I give to Anne Maddocke wyfe of James Maddocke of Senelley greene my best greene Apron  It’m to Cicelie Stirrop my best whyte Apron  It’m to Anne France wyfe of John France my other best whyte Apron  It’m my fun’rall expences debts & legacies beinge fully discharged I doe hereby give and bequeath all the residue & rest of my goodes & Chattells whatsoev’r they bee unto John Maddocke sone of James Maddocke my brother to his sole & p’p’ use  It’m lastly I doe hereby Constitute & ordeyne James Maddocke and my Cosen James Maddocke of Blackley hurst my true & lawfull executors to see this my will in all points p’formed as I trust they will  It’m further I doe hereby desire & intrust Thomas Mather of Lowton to see my funerall pe’formed in decent manner as aforesaid and to bee Ove’seer of this my will unto whome I give 2s  6d as a remembrance of my law  It’m I give to Thomas Haughton my malt man one ..... haye  It’m to Jane Maddocke daughter of James Maddocke my brother one ewe and a lamb  It’m my will & mynd is my best freinds & neighbo’s shall dyne at my burriall & that the poore shall have ... apeece at my fun’rall  It’m I give to George Garstange my brother-in-law a whyte Outt dublett  It’m I give to my Cosen Thomas Garstange sonne of John 10s  It’m I give to John Haughton one chaf bed one boulster & 2 ould cov’rlete.
