The Will of Unity Garland
I Unity Garland of Wareham in the County of Dorset
Spinster Do hereby revoke all Wills Codicils and other testamentary
Dispositions made by me at any time or times heretofore and do publish and
declare this to be my last Will and Testament I direct my Debts funeral and
testamentary expences annuity and legacies to be paid by my Executor
hereinafter named out of my personal Estate I give and bequeath unto my
Nephew Harry Hammond of Wareham aforesaid Gentleman All my personal Estate
and Effects monies and securities for Money to and for his own use and
benefit subject Nevertheless to the following legacies and Annuity (that is
to say) I give and bequeath unto my Niece Unity Richards Wife of Thomas
Richards of Reading in the County of Berks Gentleman the Sum of two thousand
five hundred pounds to be paid her within one calendar Month from and after
my decease to and for her own use and benefit and for her own sole separate
and peculiar use and benefit and without being in any wise subject to or
liable to the Debts controul or interference of her present or any future
husband And I hereby direct that her receipt alone shall be a sufficient
discharge to my said Executor Also I give and bequeath unto my said Niece
Unity Richards All that my freehold Messuage or Dwelling house with the
Appurtenances situate on the South side of the West Street in the Borough of
Wareham now in my tenure or Occupation To hold to her the said Unity
Richards her heirs and Assigns for ever I also give the said Unity Richards
All my Plate household goods furniture and wearing Apparel whatsoever which
shall be in my said Dwelling house at the time of my Death save and except
Roe the bed and bedstead on which I now sleep I also give and bequeath to
the said Elizabeth Roe the Sum of Sixty pounds to be paid her within six
calendar Months next after my decease I also give and bequeath to the said
Elizabeth Roe an Annuity or Yearly Sum of four pounds clear of all
deductions for and during the term of her natural life And I direct the same
to be paid her Quarterly the first quarterly payment to begin and commence
such first Christmas day which shall happen after my decease I also give and
bequeath unto Joanna Richards daughter of my said Niece Unity Richards the
Sum of One hundred pounds to be paid her in like manner I also give and
bequeath unto Elizabeth Garland of Winterborne in the said County of Dorset
Widow the Sum of twenty pounds to be paid her in like manner I also give and
bequeath unto Joseph Garland the younger of Poole Gentleman son of Joseph
Garland of the same place Gentleman the Sum of twenty pounds to be paid him
in like manner I also give and bequeath unto John Garland of in the County
of brother of the said Joseph Garland the younger the Sum of twenty pounds
to be paid him in like manner I also give and bequeath unto Hannah Dowden
Wife of Dowden the Sum of twenty pounds to be paid her in like manner And I
do hereby make ordain constitute and appoint my said Nephew Harry Hammond
sole Executor and residuary legatee of this my last Will and Testament In
Witness whereof I have to this my said Will contained in two sheets of paper
to each sheet set my hand and to this last sheet my seal also this
Seventeenth day of October in the Year of our Lord One thousand Eight
hundred and twenty five Unity Garland
