The Will of Tobias Garland

 

In the Name of God Amen I Tobias Garland of Westwood in the County of Wilts Clothworker being aged & often afflicted but of sound & perfect memory thanks be given to Almighty God for the same But calling to mind the uncertainty of this life do make this to be my last Will & Testament in manner following Imp I give and comend my Soule unto Almighty God hopeing through the Mediation of my Blessed Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ to obtain ffree Pardon and remission of all my Sins, and my body I comitt to the Earth to be decently buried and now as touching that small portion of Temporall Estate which it hath pleased the Lord to lend me for a short season I dispose thereof as followeth (that is to say) Imp I give unto my loveing wife Grace Garland the Moyetty or half part of all such Corne Hay & Cattell of all sorts as I shall dye possessed of as the same shall be equally divided between my said Wife & my Executor hereafter named to be left to her disposal Item I give more to my said Wife the use of the Moyety or half part of all my household goods that I shall dye possessed of for & dureing the term of her natural Life & after her decease I give the same goods aforesaid to my Executor hereafter named to & for his only use & benefitt And Lastly all the rest residue and remainder of my goods Chattles Creditts & personall Estate whatsoever my debts Legacies & ffunerall Expences discharged I give & bequeath the same unto my Grandson William ffussell whome I doe make nominate & appoint to be the sole Executor of this my last will & Testament & I doe hereby make null & void all former wills by me made declaring this to be my last will & Testament& none other In Wittness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the Nynteenth day of July in the fourth year of the Reigne of King George of Great Britain Anno Dom 1718 Tobias Garland
