The Will of Eliza Meech Garland

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Eliza Meech Garland formerly of Weymouth in the County of Dorset but now of number 20 Durham Terrace Paddington in the County of Middlesex Spinster I will and direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences be paid and discharged by my Executor and Executrixes hereinafter named as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath unto my niece Elizabeth Davis (formerly Elizabeth Ellary) now residing at number 5 Royal York Terrace Weymouth in the County of Dorset the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds I give and bequeath unto my niece Harriet Newell Milne Wife of Mr Milne of number 6 Percy Villas Northumberland Grove Park in the County of Middlesex the sum of One hundred and fifty pounds which legacies to my aforesaid two nieces I direct shall be paid to them from a Mortgage held by me on land belonging to Mr William Barrett Rodwell near Weymouth in the said County of Dorset and which I desire my Executor and Executrixes hereinafter named to call in and convert into money as soon as conveniently may be after my decease I give and bequeath unto Janet Milne daughter of the above Harriet Newell Milne my Gold Watch I give and bequeath unto my niece Jane Reid Wife of the Reverend James Reid now residing in the Island of Jamaica the sum of Fifty pounds which legacy I direct shall be paid to the said Jane Reid free of all legacy duty I further direct that the profits or ….arising from the sale of Forty Shares I now hold in the North British Australian Company and from Forty Shares I also hold in the Bon Accord Mining Company Australia if unsold at my decease and which I direct my Executor and Executrixes hereinafter named to sell and convert into money to be divided between my said Nieces Elizabeth Davis and Harriet Newell Milne in equal shares I also give and bequeath unto my said Nieces Elizabeth Davis and Harriet Newell Milne and to Jane Reid all my wearing apparel Books and whatsoever else I may die possessed of have and except what I have otherwise disposed of by this my Will to be equally divided between them And I appoint my said Nieces Elizabeth Davis and Harriet Newell Milne residuary legatees of this my Will And I nominate and appoint Edward Fox Jennings of Sutton in the County of Middlesex Esquire Executor and my said Nieces Elizabeth Davis and Harriet Newell Milne joint Executrixes of this my last Will and Testament In Witness whereof I the said Eliza Meech Garland have hereunto set my hand this twentieth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four

Proved at Blandford on the tenth day of April 1872 by the Oath of Harriett Newell Milne (Wife of William Milne Schoolmaster) the niece of the Deceased one of the Executors to whom administration was granted. Power being reserved of making the like Grant to Edward Fox Jennings and Elizabeth Davis Wife of Francis Davis Gent niece of the Deceased the other Executors.

The Testatrix Eliza Meech Garland was formerly of Weymouth in the County of Dorset afterwards of number 20 Durham Terrace Paddington in the County of Middlesex but late of Wyke Regis in the County of Dorset Spinster and died on the 14th day of March 1871 at Wyke Regis aforesaid
