The Will of Hannah Fox

 

In the name of God Amen this thirteenth day of April and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven I Hannah Fox of Aston in the Parish of Bampton and County of Oxford Single Woman being of perfect mind and memory and calling to mind and duly considering the uncertainty of Human Life do make this my last Will and Testament. First and principally I commit my soul into the hands of my Blessed Maker trusting in his Mercies and in the Merrits of my dear Redeemer for the Remission of all my sins.My body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executor herein after named. As to my temporal estate I bequeath and dispose of it in the following manner. First I give and bequeath unto my sister in law Sarah Fox all my wareing apparel and the Boxes. Also I give her more my tea chest a ring and five tea spoons. Also I give and bequeath unto my brother William Fox one shilling of good and lawfull money. Also  I give and bequeath unto my brother Thomas Fox one shilling of good and lawfull money. Also I give and bequeath unto my brother Francis Fox one shilling of lawfull money; to be paid and delivered up at my decease if demanded.

Lastly I give and bequeath unto my brother John Fox of Aston all the rest and residue and remainder of my money in the house at my decease all my rents and debts due to me with all my goods chattels and estates whatsoever to his use and behoof

 

I do hereby nominate and appoint my beloved brother John Fox whole and sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament requiring him to pay all my just debts and the legacies before mentioned with all convenient speed after my decease

And I declare this and none other to be my last Will and Testament contained in one sheet of paper signed at the bottom with my own hand and seal

N.B.  Hannah is the daughter of Thomas Fox, who died in Cote in 1786.
