In the Name of God,
Amen, I Francis Fox of Claywell in the Parish of Ducklington in
the County of Oxford Yeoman being of sound and disposing mind
memory and understanding (Blessed be God for it) Do make publish
and ordain this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following (that is to say) First and principally I commit my
Soul into the Hands of Almighty God who gave it, and my Body to
the Earth to be decently interred at the Discretion of my
Executor herein after named, and my worldly Estate and Effects
wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me, I give and dispose
thereof as follows Imprimis, I devise give and bequeath all that
Yard Land Meadow Ground and Commons which I purchased of Mr
Morris lying in the Parish of Ducklington aforesaid and now in
the Occupation of Henry Edwards, to my housekeeper Elizabeth
Penkott for and during all the Term of her natural Life and from
and after her Decease I give devise and bequeath the same
Premises to my Nephew William Fox for and during the Term of his
natural Life, and from and after his Decease to his now wife
Sarah if she survives him for and during the Term of her natural
Life, and from and after her decease I give devise and bequeath
the said Land and Premises to all the Children of my said Nephew
William Fox and to their Heirs Executors Administrators and
Assigns for ever Share and Share alike.
Item I devise give and
bequeath all that my lifehold Halfyard Land Meadow Ground and
Commons lying in Aston in the said County of Oxford to my
Brother John Fox for and during the Term of his natural Life,
and from and after his Decease to my Nephew William Clack. Item
I give and bequeath to my Nephew Thomas Williams the Sum of ten
pounds of lawful Money of Great Britain to be paid to him within
one Year after my Decease by my Executrix. And all the Rest
Residue and Remainder of all my Goods Cattle Stock Money and
Effects and all my personal Estate whatsoever and wheresoever I
give and bequeath to the said Elizabeth Penkott she making no
Waste thereof, for and during all the Term of her natural Life
and from and immediately after her Decease I give and bequeath
the same to my Brother Thomas Fox’s Children and to my Nephew
William Clack after having first paid and fully discharged all
the just Debts and funeral Expences of the said Elizabeth
Penkott and also after having first paid unto my late Sister Ann
Clack’s three daughters, Elizabeth, Mary and Ann if living then
as to such of them as shall be then living, the Sum of Twenty
Pounds each which I hereby give and bequeath to them if they
shall be living at the Decease of the said Elizabeth Penkott
then the remainder to be divided among my said Brother Thomas
Fox’s Children and my said Nephew William Clack Share and Share
alike. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint the said
Elizabeth Penkott to be the whole and Sole Executrix of this my
last Will and Testament, and my true and trusty Friend Robert
Darby, and my Nephew William Clack Trustees and Overseers
thereof to see the same performed according to my true Intent
and Meaning. And also I do hereby revoke all my former and other
Wills and Legacies and do ratify and confirm this and no other
to be and contain my last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof
the Testator the said Francis Fox have hereunto set my Hand and
Seal the fourteenth Day of January in the Year of our Lord

Fox the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament in the
presence of us who at his request, in his presence and in the
presence and sight of each other have subscribed our names as
witnesses
