The Will of Susanna Ford

This is the last Will and Testament of me Susanna Ford of Bathford in the County of Somerset Spinster I give to my Mother Mary Ford whatever money I may have in the Trowbridge Savings Bank for her Absolute use Subject to the Payment of my debts funeral and Testamentary expences I also give to my Mother Mary fford the household goods and furniture plate linen and china that may belong to me in the house where I now reside I give to my Uncle William Beak of Bathford aforesaid Gentleman the legacy of ten pounds All the Rest Residue and Remainder of my Monies and securities for money goods chattels and all other my personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever (subject to the payment of the aforesaid legacy of ten pounds) I give and bequeath to Thomas Melsom of Whaddon and Thomas Bruges of Jennington both in the County of Wilts Esquires upon and for the trusts intents and purposes and under and subject to the Provisos agreements and declarations hereinafter mentioned that is to say Upon trust that they the said Thomas Melsom and Thomas Bruges And the Survivor of them his Executors and Administrators shall invent the same in their or his names or names either on Government or real securities and from time to time shall change the said securities for others of a like nature as they shall deem expedient and shall pay the Interest dividends and annual produce arising therefrom unto my said Mother Mary fford and her Assigns for and during her natural life and from and after her decease upon trust to Pay assign or transfer my said residuary Estate or the stocks funds or securities on which the same may be invested unto my brother Philip fford his Executors and Administrators subject to the proviso hereinafter contained that is to say Provided and I declare my Will to be that if my said Mother Mary fford without warning leave any lawfull issue then and in such case and immediately thereupon the said Thomas Melsom and Thomas Bruges And the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall pay assign and transfer my said residuary Estate or the stocks funds or securities on which the same may be invested unto my said Mother Mary fford for her absolute use and benefit I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said Mother Mary fford sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Wills by me at any time before made Provided and I do hereby declare my Will to be that the said Thomas Melsom and Thomas Bruges and the Survivor of them his Executors or Administrators shall be charged and chargeable only for so much money as they ro he shall actually receive by virtue of the trusts aforesaid and that they shall not be answerable for the insufficiency or deficiency of any security or securities on which the said trust Estate monies and premises or any part thereof shall be placed or invested nor for any Banker Broker or other Person with whom the same shall be invested for safe custody or otherwise in the Execution of the Trusts of this my Will or in relation thereto and that it shall and may be lawfull for my said Trustees by and out of the monies which shall come to their hands by virtue of the Trusts aforesaid to retain and reimburse themselves or himself all costs charges damages and expences which they or either of them shall pay bear sustain or be put unto in the Execution of the Trusts hereof In Witness whereof I the said Susanna fford the Testatrix have to each sheet of this my last Will and Testament contained in two sheets of Paper set my hand the tenth day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty two The mark X of Susanna Ford
