The Will of George Fletcher

 

 In the Name of God Amen, I George Fletcher servant to  Henry Witham of Cliff in the County of York Esq. I charge all my effects with the payments of my just debts and funeral expences subject to the following , I give and bequeath to my father in law Thomas Dothwaite of Hind House a security which I had from him for the payment of £50 with interest part of the Portion I was to have with his daughter Elizabeth my former wife.

My dear wife Elizabeth to be sole executrix. 28th May 1764 , witnessed by William Hodgson, Jane Herdman, John Perkin.

 

Elizabeth Fletcher, widow of George Fletcher late of Cliff in the parish of Manfield appeared 15 September 1770

The location of Cliff is that it is on the banks of the River Tees, Yorkshire side, just south of Darlington.

 

From the Leeds collection at the Sheepscar Library of wills proved in the Archdeaconry Court of Richmondshire.

 

This Will was kindly transcribed and sent in by Marion.

Marion is both a Family and a Local Historian, but is not related to any of this family.
