In the Name of God Amen I RICHARD
FAWCETT of Angram in the Parish of Grinton in the North Riding
of the County of York, yeoman, being in a weak state of Health,
but of perfect Mind and memory thanks be to Almighty God For the
same , do by this my last will and testament give devise and
bequeath my worldly Goods and Possessions in the following
manner viz :
First I give and bequeath to my son SIMON
FAWCETT his heirs and assigns a Copyhold inheritance situated
and laying in the Division of Oxnop in the Parish of Grinton
aforesaid consisting of Three Fields or Parcels of Land known by
the respective names of the Low Close, High Close and the Garth
with the Dwelling House and other Appurtenances whatsoever
thereunto belonging with Three Shillings and Ten Pence stintable
Rent in Oxnop Pasture.
Second I give and bequeath to my son RALPH
FAWCETT his heirs and assigns Four Fields or Parcels of Land
known by the respective Names of the Home Close, Carr Close,
Middle Close and Carr Bean? and Tops with the dwelling Houses
and the respective llotments thereunto belonging being a Part of
Muker Side and Keasdon Divisions with every other Appurtenances
thereunto belonging the said Bequest being in the Nature of a
Copyhold Inheritance laying and situate in the Division of Muker
in the Parish of Grinton aforesaid Subject however to the
Payment of the above Bequest to my daughter SUSANNAH wife of
JOSEPH SUNTER the sum of £150 But provided the said Legacy be
paid before my decease then in that case the above be null and
void.
Also I give and bequeath to my said son
RALPH FAWCETT one dwelling House situate at Agill with a Garden
and every other Appurtenance thereunto belonging but on this
condition that my beloved wife shall have the occupation of or
the Benefit arising from the same during the term of her natural
Life or as long as she remains my widow. Also I give and
Bequeath to my son RALPH FAWCETT on the above conditions the
North End of the Chapel The Fold Carrhouse and one Penny
stintable rent in Angram Pasture all the above being situate in
the division of Angram in the Parish of Grinton aforesaid.
Third I give and bequeath to my son JOHN
FAWCETT all and every the Copyhold Inheritance comprising the
following fields or Parcels of Land situate in the divisions of
Angram and Keld in the Parish of Grinton aforesaid his Heirs or
Assigns known by the Names of the Middle Ing, Crooks, Tommy's
and Skeugh, Two Fields, Scarr Close and Scarr Close Ends with
the Dwellnig House at present occupaied by himself and the two
cottages or dwellings thereunto adjoining the same with the
stable and other appurtenances thereunto belonging and the whole
of the Cattle Gaits in Angram and Keld Pastures except one Penny
rent previously devised , and one Cattle gait hereafter to be
devised, Subject however to the Payment out of the aforesaid
bequest the sum of £80 to be paid to my son SIMON FAWCETT or his
heirs and assigns the said legacy to be paid at the Expiration
of Six Months after my decease.
Fourth I give and bequeath to my son JOHN
FAWCETT one Field called Robin's Close situate in the division
of Angram with one Cattle Gait in Angram Pasture on the
following Express conditions He my said son FAWCETT to pay to my
dear wife ISABELLA FAWCETT annually the sum of £12 clear of
every Papence and if in case this Bequest be insufficient for
that Purpose then the remainder to be paid out of the former
Bequest which I have by this my Will bequeathed unto him. The
said £12 to be payabe to my said Dear Wife for the Term of her
natural Life or as long as she may continue my Widow to be paid
by equal Portions every six months to take date from my decease
And if in case of any default of Payment the same to be
recoverable from any part of the Lands heretofore devised by
distress as for rent in arrear clear of all expence on her part.
Then at her decease or Marriage then the said bequests to belong
entirely to my said son JOHN FAWCETT his Heirs and assigns on
the Payment of the sum of £15 to my son SIMON FAWCETT, £15 to my
son RALPH FAWCETT and £15 to my daughter SUSANNAH SUNTER or
their respective heirs or assigns to be paid to each
respectively in three years viz £5 to each per year til the
whole be paid.
Fiftth I give and bequeath to my beloved
wife ISABELLA FAWCETT the whole use of my household furniture
beds and bedding and one Cow during the Term of her natural Life
or so long as she may continue my Widow, also the previlege of
residing in the dwelling House in which we now reside or to have
the Benefit of letting the same as long as she continues my
Widow, and the sum of £40 to be paid to her equally by my two
sons RALPH & JOHN FAWCETT Then in case my said Widow should
marry or at her decease the Household furniture beds and bedding
to be equally divided among my three sons or their respective
heirs, SIMON, RALPH and JOHN FAWCETT
I do hererby nominate constitute and
appoint my two sons JOHN and RALPH FAWCETT joint executors to
this my last will and testament bequeathing to them the whole of
my Personal property undivided that I may be possessed of at my
decease they paying my just debts and Funeral Expences and if
any thing remains to be equally divided between them but if
insufficient the deficiency to be made up equally. I do hereby
revoke any previous will by me formerly made confirming this and
no other as my last will and testament..... In witness whereof I
have hereunto set my Hand and seal this 2 November 1833

appeared Ralph Fawcett and John Fawcett the executors within
named and were sworn .... etc
