The Will of Thomas Enticknap

 

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Enticknap of Chiddingfold in the County of Surry Yeoman revokeing all former Wills by me made do hereby make and declare this to be my last Will and Testament in manner and form following And first being heartily sorry for my Sins past and humbly begging forgiveness of God for the same I commend my Soul to Almighty God hoping to be Saved by and thro the Merits Death and Passion of Jesus Christ my only Saviour and Redeemer And my Body to the Earth to be decently buried in Christian Burial in such manner as to my Executor in trust herein after named shall seem meet And as to my temporal Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me I do order give and dispose thereof as followeth Impris I give Will and Devise unto my Kinsman Thomas Enticknap one of the Sons of my Cousin William Enticknap of Lurgashall in the County of Sussex Yeoman And unto his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that my Messuage or Tenement and ffarm and all those my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments thereunto belonging with their and every of their Appurtenances Situate lying and being in the several Parishes of Chiddingfold and Godalming in the said County of Surrey and all other my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments whatsoever within the Kingdom of Great Britain To have and to Hold the said Premises with the Appurtenances unto my said Kinsman Thomas Enticknap his Heires and Assignes for evermore Subject nevertheless to the payment of one Annuity or yearly Rent Charge of fforty shillings of lawfull money of Great Britain unto my Servant Mercy Holden Spinster and her Assignes yearly and every year dureing the Term of her natural Life free of all Charges the first payment to be made within one year next after my decease And if it shall happen that that the said Annuity of fforty Shillings or any part thereof to be behind and unpaid by the Space of Thirty Days next over or after any Day or time on which the same ought to be paid (being lawfully demanded) that then and so often it shall be lawfull to Sue for the said Mercy Holden and her Assigns into the before mentioned Messuage Lands and Premises to enter and Distreyn and the Distress and Distresses then and there found to lead Drive and carry away and the same to detaine and keep untill the said Annuity and all arrears thereof and all Costs and Charges sustained thereby shall be fully satisfied and paid Item I give and bequeath unto my Kinsmen John Enticknap and Charles Enticknap One Shilling Apeice Item (after my just Debts and Legacys are paid and my ffuneral Expences discharged) All the res residue and remainder of my Moneys Goods Cattle Chattells and personal Estate whatsoever I give and bequeath unto my said Kinsman Thomas Enticknap And lastly I make my aforesaid Kinsman William Enticknap Executor in Trust of this my last Will and Testamt and for his trouble I give him Ten Shillings in Witness whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the fifth Day of September Anno Dm 1724
