The Will of Ralph Emmett

 

In the name of God Amen I Ralph Emmett of Trowbridge in the County of Wilts Cordwainer being sicke and weake in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory and understanding (praise be given to Almighty God) and knowing the uncertainty of this Life doe therefore make and Ordaine this my last Will and Testament as follows Imprimis I give unto my Daughter Anne Emmett All that Little Tenement in Trowbridge aforesaid wherein ffrancis Jones now dwells during her Naturall Life and noe Longer Item I give unto my sd Daughter Anne the Bedd which I usually lye on with all the furniture thereunto belonging four of the newest Chairs one brasse pott one little table board and Margans Kittle and alsoe fforty pounds over and besides what she has already gott by her industry Item I give unto my daughter Mary Emmett the like summe of fforty pounds Item I give unto my Daughter Elizabeth the summe of Twenty pounds Item I give unto my son John Emmett Twenty pounds and to my Grandson Christopher Son of my said son John Emmett I give five pounds to putt him out an Apprentice or to be paid unto him when he attaine to the age of one and twenty years which shall first happen All which Legacies before mentioned (except the sd five pounds) my Will is shall be paid by my Executor hereinafter named in twelve months next after my decease Item I give unto my Brother Thomas my best Great Coat Item I give unto my Sister Braggett one Guinea Item all my Lands Tenements and hereditaments whatsoever wherein I am seized in ffee situate and being in Trowbridge aforesaid and elsewhere I Give Devise and Bequeath unto my Son Christopher Emmett and his heirs and Assignes for ever Lastly all my Goods Chattles and Creditts whatsoever not by me hereinbefore given and bequeathed I give unto my said Son Christopher Emmett whom I make Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament and I Doe hereby revoake and make Void all former Wills by me made In witness whereof I the said Ralph Emmett have hereunto sett my hand and Seale this Sixth day of November Anno Dm 1721/ Relph Emet./ Signed Sealed published and declared by the sd Ralph Emmett to be his last Will and Testament in the psence of / Joan Woods her marke, Tho: Willett
