The Will of Thomas Ede

In the Name of God Amen I Thomas Ede of Rusper in the County of Sussex being of sound and perfect mind memory and understanding blessed be God renouncing all former wills by me made doe make this my last will and Testament in manner and forme following that is to sayffirst I give and bequeath to such of the Poore People of the Parsih of Rusper aforesaid as doe not receive weekly Almes the sume of fforty shillings of lawfull English money to be paid and distributed at the discretion of my Executor and the Overseers of the Poore of the said Parish of Rusper for the time being within three moneths next after my decease Item I give and devise unto my loveing freinds John Braby of Rusper aforesaid Husbandman and Anne his wife one Annuity or yearely rent charge of Tenn pounds per Annum to be issueing and paid out of All that my Messuage or Tenement Barnes buildings and lands with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging comonly called or knowne by the severall names of Ringmers Mays Bugers and Bytchetts or by whatsoever other name or names the same or any part thereof is called or knowne containing by estimation seaventy two acres more or lesse situate lyeing and being in the Parish of Charlewood in the County of Surry now or late in the tenure or occupation of Thomas Humfrey or of his Assignes to have hold receive perceive and take the said Annuity or yearely rent charge of Tenn pounds per Annum to them the said John Braby and Anne his wife for and dureing their naturall lives and the life of the longer liver of them and from and after the decease of the longer liver of them then to the heires of the bodyes of them the said John Braby and Anne his wife lawfully begotten or to be begotten between them and for want of such issue to the right heires of me the said Thomas Ede forever the said Annuity or rent charge to be paid yearely at the two most usuall feasts or termes in the yeare that is to say the ffeast of Annunciation of the blessed Virgin Mary and St Michael the Archangel by equall portions the first paymt to begin at the first of the said feasts that shall next happen aftermy decease Item I give unto my loveing freind George Mills of Rusper aforesaid gent All that my aforesaid Messuage or Tenement and all other my Lands and Tenements whatsoever to hold to him and to his heires in trust neverthelesse and for the raiseing and true payment of all and every the Legacies and sumes of money hereinafter mentioned that is to say to my Kinsman Robert Ede Brother of William Ede of Horley neare Sidley Mill the sume of ffifty pounds to be paid to him within six moneths next after my decease To all and every the Children of my Kinsman Richard Seaman by his last wife that shall be liveing at my decease the sum of ffive pounds apiece to be paid to them within six moneths next after my decease Two my two Kinsmen Richard and William Kempsall of Rusper aforesaid the sum of ffive pounds apiece to be paid to them within six moneths next after my decease And after the said Legacies are raised and paid by the sale of some part of my said Lands my will is that the said George Mills or his heires shall at the costs of my Executor hereinafter named convey all his interest in my aforesaid Lands subject neverthelesse to the said Annuity or tenne pounds per Annum hereinbefore devised to my Executor hereinafter named sole Executor of this my will I make my Kinsman William Ede of Horley neare Sibley Mill in the said County of Surry In witnesses whereof I the said Thomas Ede have hereunto sett my hand and seale this seaven and twentieth day of ffebruary in the eleaventh yeare of the reigne of our Sovereigne Lord King William the third over England etc Annoq Domini one thousand six hundred and ninety eight Thomas Ede his marke
