In the name of god Amen the sixt day of
November in the yeare of our lord god the now Comutacon of the
Church of England One thousand sixe hundred fortie sixe I
Elizabeth Dumbell of Newton in Makerfeild within the p’ish of
winwicke and Countie of Lancaster widowe being sicke of bodie
but of good and p’fect memorie laud and prayse be given to
Almightie god therefore doe make this my last will and test’ant
in manner & forme following That is to say first and principally
I give & bequet my soule into the mercifull Custodie of my lord
and saviour Jesus Christ trusting through his bitter death and
passion to bee made one of his ellect number w’ch shall bee
saved And I Comitt my bodie to Christian buriall in my p’ish
Church of winwicke there to be inteared att the discreation of
my exec’rs & neerest freinds And as concerning my worldly goods
w’ch god hath lent me it is my will & mynd to have them bestowed
in such manner & forme as in & by these p’nts hereafter is
men’oned & expressed, That is to say first it is my will & mynd
that my debts and funerall expences shalbe payd & discharged
forth of my whole goods Item I give unto my sune Willm Dombell
one shaged bedhilling being the longest & all the worke tooles
w’ch were his fathers & all others which belong to the mill I
give and leave the toole arke w’ch stands in the mylne to my
sune Willm to bee & remaine there as an herae loome for ever &
not to be removed Item I give unto Peter Dombell sune of the
said Willm 20s whereof 15s of it was given unto his sune Peter
being deceased Item I give unto Jane daughter of the said Willm
13 w’ch Jeffrey Holcroft oweth me for apare of loomes & the use
of them since it was due Item I give unto my sonne Thomas
Dombell the younger a calafe w’th a tage in the taile Item I
give unto Elizabeth Sterrupp my god daughter 2s Item I give
unto Elizabeth White my god daughter 12d Item I give unto
Elizabeth Hindley 2s Item I give unto Elizabeth Whittell 2s
Item I give unto Anne Dombell widowe 3s 4d Item I give unto
Anne Guest my ould greene cloake & one smock Item I give all
the rest of my goods what soe’er w’ch is yett undespossed of I
give & bequeth it wholely unto my sonne Richard & my daughter
Jane equally betwixt them And I ordaine Constatute & make the
said Richard Dombell my sonne & Jane Dombell my daughter my
true & lawfull executors hopeing they will p’forme this my last
will & Testam’t in all things as my trust is in them above all
others And I desire my loving freinds George Sorocold of
Overford & Willm Leadbitter of Lowton yeomen to bee overseers
hereof for the better p’formance of the same In witness whereof
I the said Elizabeth Dombell have hereunto putt my hand & Seale
