I George Dryden of Toll Square No Shields
being of good health and sound mind but knowing the uncertainty
of this life doth give and bequeath to Mary my dearly beloved
Wife for her natural life the ffreehold house and all the
ffurniture therein, beds, bedding linen, china, plate and now
occupied by me in Toll Square No Shields And further that as
long as she remains my Widow that my Executors pay her yearly
out of my personal freehold or Copyhold or Profits of Shipping
or out of other Property that will or may become due to me
hereafter the Sum of One hundred and fifty pounds The residue to
be equally divided between my sons and daughter George Thomas
and Isabella Dryden and any other Child or Children my Wife may
bear within ten months after my decease And as soon as they come
to the age of twenty one years provided it can be done
conveniently and for the performance of the same I appoint my
Wife Mary Dryden and my Brothers Thomas Dryden and John Dryden
in Trust for the performance of this my last Will and Testament
Signed and Sealed this 5th day of May 1828 in the presence of
the undersigned Witnesses _ Robert Thrift _ George Lodge _

Codicil Be it here understood that it is
my Particular wish that my Shipping Concerns be carried out
under the direction of Thomas & John Dryden my Brothers for the
use of the above my Sons, Daughters Dec 29th 1831 _ George
Dryden
(Affidavit by Anthony Taylor of North
Shields within the Borough of Tynemouth in the County of
Northumberland Master Mariner and John Tinley of Dockwray within
the said Borough as to the Codicil)
