In the Name of God Amen I Rupert Dovey of
Stourbridge in the County of Worcester being of sound Mind and
Memory (blessed be God) Do make and Declare this my last Will
and Testament in manner following First I Give Devise and
bequeath to my dear Wife ffrances Dovey during her natural life
if she shall so long Continue my Widow All and every my
Messuages Lands Tenements and Hereditts in possession and
Reversion Situate and being in the Town of Stourbridge aforesaid
And from and Imediately after her Decease or Second Marriage
which shall first happen I Give and Devise the same to my
Brother the Reverend Richard Dovey his Heirs and Assigns for
ever Also I Give and bequeath to my said Wife ffrances Dovey the
Use of all my Moveable and Household Goods and household
ffurniture Plate Linnen and China of all Sorts in my House at
the time of my Decease During her life if She shall Continue my
Widow And from the time of her Death or Second Marriage I Give
the Same to my said Brother Richard Dovey his Executors and
Admors I Also Give and bequeath to my said Wife ffrances Dovey
All my Liquors and Provisions of all Sorts in my House And also
my Chariot and all my Horses with their Harnesses and .......
Hay and Corn and all my Garden Tools and Implements of Husbandry
in and about my said House And I desire my Executor will pay to
my said Wife One hundred pounds within one Month after my
Decease And Whereas by Articles made Previous to my Marriage my
Wife is to have and receive a Clear Yearly Sum of ffour hundred
pounds for her life in lieu and .... for her Dower for which
Purpose I have purchased in Trustees name Eleven thousand three
hundred pounds and upwards in three per Cent Bank Annuities Now
I Do hereby Direct that my Executor and Devisee hereinafter
named (if my Personal Estate shall fall short of Paying my Debts
and Legacies herein mentioned) Shall by Mortgage or Sale of some
Part of my real Estate raise so much Money and lay the same out
in the aforesaid Stock as will make up a Clear Yearly Dividend
or Interest of ffour hundred pounds for my said Wife in
Discharge of my Covenants in the said Articles Also I Give and
bequeath to my Kinsman Richard Bennett of Shiffnal One hundred
pounds to his Brother Lacon..... Bennett of Shrewsbury ffour
hundred pounds To his Sister Elizabeth Bennett Two hundred
pounds To my Kinsman Daniel Clarke of Bewdley Two hundred pounds
To his Sister Mary ffrier One hundred pounds and to his Sister
Mary Clarke One hundred pounds To the three Children of my
Kinsman John Bennett late of Shrewsbury One hundred pounds each
To my Couzen John Phillips One hundred pounds To his Sister
Elizabeth Phillips ffive hundred pounds To his Sister Ann
Phillips ffive hundred pounds To his Sister Katherine Phillips
ffive hundred pounds To my Cousen Sarah Oakeley of Bromsgrove
Two hundred pounds To her Sister Elizabeth Oakely One hundred
pounds To my Cousin Jane Elwes Widow Two hundred pounds To my
Godson Humfry Philpot One hundred pounds To Mr Edward Hickman of
Oldswinford ffifty pounds and to Mr Meredith Evans Twenty pounds
I also give to my Kinsman John Bennett only Son of my Couzen
Samuel Bennett One Annuity or Yearly Sum of Ten pounds without
any Deduction to be paid to him half yearly and his receipt only
to be a Discharge to my Heir at Law It being my Will that the
same shall not be liable to his Act Debt or Controule the same
Annuity to be Issuing and Payable to him for his life out of my
Dividends Proceeds and Interest arising from my Shares in the
Droitwich Navigation Also I Give to my Servant William Dunn if
he lives with me at the time of my Decease Thirty pounds and all
my Wearing Apparel of all sorts And to all my other servants
that shall have lived with me one year at my Death One Years
Wages more than what will bethen due to them I Desire my
Executor will pay the Governors of Worcester Infirmary One
hundred pounds towards furnishing the now Building All the rest
residue and remainder of my Estate both real and personal of
what Nature or kind soever and wheresoever after payment of all
my jst Debts Legacies and funeral Expences and charged and
chargeable as aforesaid I Give Devise and bequeath to my loving
Brother Richard Dovey his Heirs Executors and Admors for ever
And I do hereby nominate and Appoint my said Brother Richard
Dovey Sole Executor of this my Will I Desire to be Decently but
Privately Buried at Claverley in the County of Salop In Witness
whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament written with
my own hand on two Sheets of Paper to each sheet set my hand and
Seal and published the same to be my last Will and Testament the
Sixteenth day of November In the Year of our Lord God One
thousand seven hundred and Seventy Rupert Dovey
