The Will of Richard Dovey

 

In the Name of God Amen I Richard Dovey of ffarmescott in the parish of Clarely and County of Salop Gent being weak in Body but of sound disposing mind and memory doe make this my last Will and Testament in Writing hereby revoking and making void all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made Imprimis I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God who made it and my Body to be buried at the parish Church of Clarely at the discretion of my Executors hereafter named Item I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving Wife All my plate broad Gold and Linnen and the one hundred pounds which my Brother ffregleton owes me and all other the ffurniture and things of what kind or nature soever in the Parlour Chamber Hall chamber Great Parlour and in her own Closett my Desire is that my Brother John Dovey doe pay unto my Mother ffive pounds per Annum during her Life without any Deduction In case she shall permit my said Brother to hold and enjoy her Jointure Lands at the same Rent I now enjoy them during her Life and I give her Ten pounds to buy her Mourning Item I give to my Niece Elianor Bennett One hundred pounds to increase her ffortune Item I give unto my Nephew John Bennett Ten pounds to buy him Mourning over and above the Ten pounds Legacy left him by my Grandfather Sanders and to my Nephew Richard Bennett Twenty Pounds besides his left my my said Grandfather and to my Nephews Nicholas Bennett and Samuel Bennett Twenty pounds apiece Item I give unto my Brother Mr John Lacon and his five Children Ten pounds apiece to buy them mourning Item I give unto my Brother and Sister Phillips and their three Children Ten pounds apiece to buy them Mourning Item I give unto my Cousin Richard Dovey and Aunt Dorothy Dovey five pounds apiece to buy them Mourning and I recomend them to the Care of my Executor Item I give unto Elizabeth Grosvenor my Wife’s Maid Mourning Item I give to the poor of the Parish of Clarely five pounds to be distributed as the Minister Brother ffregleton and the overseers of the poor for the time being or the Major part of them shall think fitt Item I give to the poor of the Parish of Worfield Twenty Shillings and to the poor of Bridgenorth to each Parish Twenty Shillings and to the poor of the severall parishes of Enfield Alveley Quatt Quattford Pattingham and Bobbington to each Parish Ten Shillings Item I give to my old Servant William Law One Years Rent of his Tenement and that he and his Wife shall hold the same during their Lives at the Rent of ffifty Shillings per Annum Item I give devise and bequeath unto my Brother John Dovey and his Heirs for ever all the rest and residue of my Estate both real and personall my Debts and Legacies being first paid and satisfied And I doe hereby make constitute ordain and appoint my said Brother John Dovey sole Executor of this my Will I desire that Sir John Woolruch Baronet William Whitmore George Whitmore Thomas Aston and Aston Mosely Esqrs Humphrey Elliott William Bradley and John Sparry Gentlemen to be Bearers my further Will is and I doe hereby give unto my said Wife all my Household Goods and Stock of Corn Grain Hay and Cattle she paying thereout unto my said Nephews Richard Nicholas and Samuel Bennett Ten pounds apiece I also give unto the said three Children of my Sister Phillips Ten pounds apiece more than is above given them Item I give unto my said Brother Lacon the ffarm at Shipley during the Life of Mrs Margaret Mempas he paying thereout Ten pounds per Annum quarterly during her Life at such Days and times as I have heretofore paid the same which shall be in full Discharge of the Annuity left her by my Grandfather Sanders Will and also paying thereout Six pence a Week to Thomas Ansell during the Life of the said Mrs Mempas in full discharge of a Legacy left him by my said Grandfathers Will In Witness whereof I have hereunto put my hand and Seal the sixth day of September in the year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and twelve (Richd Dovey)
