In the name of god Amen the seaventh day
of July Anno Re’ Caroli docimo quinto Annio d’ 1639
I Peter Dombell of Newton in Makerfeild in
the County of Lancaster milner Sicke in bodie but of good and
p’fect memorie laude and prayse be given to almightie god
therefore And knowinge death to bee Certaine and the tyme
uncertaine am mynded therefore to make my last will and Testam’t
in manner and forme followinge That is to saye first and above
aqll things I Commend my soule into the mercifull Custodie of my
lord and Saviour Jesus Christ Trusting throughe his blessed
death and passion to bee made one of the ellect number w’ch
shalbesaved And when yt shall please his devine wisdome to
separatt my soule and bodie asunder Then I will that my bodie
bee buried att my p’ish Church of Winwicke there to rest untill
it please god to raise it up againe in the last day and make it
glorious And for the distribucion of my worldly goods w’ch god
hath lent me and made me steward of in this vale of teares It is
my will and mynde to have them bestowed in such manner and forme
as hereafter in theis pr’ts is menconed & expressed viz first it
is my will and mynd that my debts and funerall expenses shall
bee payd and discharged forth of my whole goods Then it is my
will and mynd that my goods bee devided into three eqall p’ts
The first p’te whereof I reserve to my selfe the second I give
and beqeth unto Elizabeth my nowe wyef and the third and last
p’te I give & bequeth unto my Children viz William Dombell John
Dombell Richard Dombell Thomas Dombell and Jane Dombell equally
amongst them And as for my owne p’te of goods w’ch is yet
undispossed of It is my will and mynd and I give & bequeth the
halfe thereof unto my sonnes Richard & Thomas Dombell equally
betwixt them & the other halfe thereof I give unto Jane my said
daughter And I ordaine constatute and make the said Elizabeth
my wife & Willm Dombell my sonne executors of this my last will
and testem’t hopeinge they will p’forme the same in all poynts
as my trust is in them above all others And I desire Henry Byrom
of Lowton George Sorocold of Overford John Sterropp and William
Leadbitter of Lowton yeomen to bee overseers hereof for the
better p’formance of the same as I trust they will doe In witnes
whereof I have here unto putt my hand and seale the day and
yeare first above written.
