The Will of John Dixon

 

This is the last will and testament of me JOHN DIXON of Richmond in the County of York gentleman made this 10 March 1779 as follows that is to say I give and devise unto my sisters MARGARET DIXON and FAITH DIXON and to my friends FOWLER HICKS and JOHN ROBINSON both of Richmond aforesaid Aldermen all and every my Freehold messuages lands and hereditments ... situate at Lowinwith in the parish of Richmond chargeable with the payment of all my just debts and funeral expences upon the trusts following that is to say .... out of the rents and profits .... make and pay all reasonable allowances for usual outgoings and payment of taxes .... and to pay interest to MARGARET DIXON and FAITH DIXON ... for the several principal sums of £100 and £150 which are charged upon the said premises by mortgage ... and to pay ANN widow of my son RALPH DIXON late of the City of London merchant deceased one annuity of £10 till her death or second marriage ... the said annuity to be paid half yearly at Michaelmas and Lady Day ... and upon trust to apply the remainder of such rents and profits from the death or second marriage of the said ANN DIXON ... to the maintenance and education of my grandson JOHN DIXON son of the said RALPH DIXON until he shall attain 21 years but in case he shall dye ... towards the maintenance and education of my granddaughter MARGARET FAITH DIXON the daughter of the said RALPH DIXON until she attain 21 years ... Then upon trust ... out of the rents ... to pay unto my son WILLIAM DIXON an annuity of £20 during the term of his natural life payable half yearly and tax free at Michaelmas and Lady Day the first payment next after my grandson JOHN DIXON shall attain 21 years ..... And subject upon trust to pay and apply the remainder of the rents and profits unto ANN DIXON yearly during the natural life of the said WILLIAM DIXON or until her second marriage ... and after the death of my said son WILLIAM DIXON then my trustees shall and do convey all and every the said messuages lands hereditaments .. unto and to the use of my said grandson JOHN DIXON ... and upon further trust that my said trustees pay the rent and profits unto my said son WILLIAM DIXON for and during the term of his natural life first deducting the annuity of £10 to ANN DIXON ... and after the death of WILLIAM DIXON to convey the same to the child or children of WILLIAM DIXON lawfully to be begotten ... and I appoint my sisters MARGARET DIXON and FAITH DIXON executrixes of this my will and do hereby give and devise and bequeath unto them ... for ever all my leasehold lands tenements and hereditaments and all my personal estate whatsoever and lastly I do revoke all former wills by me made and declare this only to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I hereby set my hand and seal the day before written
