The Will of William Diddlesfold

 

In the Name of God Amen I William Diddlesfold of Albury in the County of Surrey Yeoman being weak and infirm of body but of sound mind and memory praised be the Lord therefore and considering the uncertainty of this transitory life do make and publish this my last will and Testament in manner following (that is to say) ffirst I give and devise unto Elizabeth my Loving wife and to my friends John Gardner of Ockley in the said County Grocer and Henry Spooner of Wotton in the said County Yeoman and to their Heirs All that my Messuage or Tenement Windmill or Millhouse barnes buildings Lands Tenements and Hereditaments with the apptenances called Rapsey or by any other name or names situate lying and being in Cranley in the said County and now in the possession of George Hard and Daniel Randall or their Assignes and all other my Lands Tenements and Hereditaments in Cranley aforesaid with their apptenances To have and to hold the said messuage or Tenements Lands and premises with their apptenances unto the said Elizabeth my Wife John Gardner and Henry Spooner their heirs and Assignes for Ever To the intent and purpose that they shall by Sale or Mortgage of the said premises or any part thereof raise soe much money as will pay all my just debts and shall therewith pay the same And the Overplus of the said premises I give to my son William Diddlesfold His Heirs and Assignes for ever Item I give and devise unto my son Thomas Diddlesfold and to his Heirs and Assignes for ever All that my Messuage or Tenement barnes buildings and Lands with their apptenances and all my Estate and Interest therein situate lying and being in Madehurst in the County of Sussex and now in the Tenure or occupation of John Parlett or his Assignes and all other my Lands and Tenements in Madehurst aforesaid and allso all that my Messuage or Tenement Smith forge garden Orchard and apptenences situate lying and being in Albury aforesaid and now in the occupation of Thomas Burle or his Assignes To have and to hold the said premises unto my said son Thomas Diddlesfold his heirs and Assignes for ever I give and devise unto my son Richard Diddlesfold and to his Heirs and Assignes for ever All that my Messuage or Tenement wherein I now dwell in Albury aforesaid with the Malthouse barnes buildings garden orchards and apptenances thereunto belonging And also All that my Messuage or Tenement with the barnes buildings orchards and Lands thereunto belonging situate lying and being in Capell in the said County of Surrey and now in the possession of John Martin or his Assignes and all other my Lands in Capell aforesaid To have and to hold the same premises unto my said son Richard Diddlesfold his Heirs and Assignes for ever Item I give grant and devise unto John Wakeford of Sheire in the said County yeoman and to his heires all my messuages Lands and tenements with the apptenances in Alfold and Loxwood in the said Counties of Surrey and Sussex in case he shall think fit to proceed in the purchase thereof according to agreement Item I make name and appoint the said Elizabeth my Loving wife sole Executrix of this my last will and Testament and I give unto her all my goods Chattells and personall Estate (after my debts and funeral expences shall be paid and discharged) In witness whereof I have to this my last will and Testament set my hand and Seale this thirtieth day of August in the fourth yeare of the Reigne of Our Sovereigne Lady Anne by the Grace of God of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland Queen defender of the ffaith Anno Dm 1705
