WILL OF ELIZABETH
DELL of Bow, Middlesex
Dated 12 Apr 1657, Proved 6 Aug 1657
In the name of God Amen I Elizabeth Dell
of Bow Widow being of perfect minde and memorie (praised be God
Doe make Constitute and ordaine my last will and Testament in
manner and forme following Inprimis I Commend my Soule into the
hands of Almightie God hopeing through the merritts of Jesus
Christ to be made pertaker of Euerlasting happiness And as for
my bodie I Committ it is the Earth from whence it was taken to
be decently buried according to the discretion of my Executor
vnder named and as for that small portion of Estate which it
hath pleased God to bestowe vpon me I doe giue dispose and
bequeath in manner and forme following Inprimis I doe giue and
bequeath vnto my Louing Brother Master Henry Bright of New
England the Summe of two hundred pounds to be paid within twelve
Moneths after my decease att two equall payments And if my said
Brother shall depart this life before the payment thereof Then
my minde and will is That the said summe of Two hundred pounds
or soe much of it as shall be vnpaid shall be equally deuided
amongst his Children Share and share like Item I giue vnto the
Children of my said brother Henry Bright the summe of Seaventie
pounds to be equally deuided betwixt them my said Brother Henry
Bright giueing his Bond to my Executor wthin twelue
Moneths after my decease to pay it them att theire severall ages
of twentie and one yeares or ddayes of marriage which shall
first happen by even and equall shares Item I giue vnto my
Sister Martha Blowers the summe of fortie pounds to be paid vnto
her within Six Moneths after my decease And if she shall depart
this life before payment thereof Then my minde and will is That
it shall be equallie devided amongst her Children Item I giue
vnto my Neece Marie Blowers Daughter of my said Sister Martha
Blowers the summe of one hundred and Seaventie pounds to be paid
vnto her att her age of twentie and one yeares or day of
marriage which shall first happen And after one yeare after my
decease my Executor shall allowe vnto her ffather towards her
education the Summe of Six pounds a yeare vntill she shall
accomplishe her age of twentie one yeares or her day of marriage
which shall first happen And if she shall depart this life
before the said summe of one hundred & Seaventy pounds shall be
paid vnto her, Then my minde and will is that it shall be
equally devided amongst her Brothers and Sisters that shall
survive her Item I giue vnto the other Children of my said
Sister Blowers which shall be liueing att the time of my decease
the summe of Tenn pounds a peece there ffather giueing Bond to
my Executor within one Yeare after my decease to pay it them att
theire severall ages of Twentie and one yeares or dayes of
marriage which shall first happen Item I giue vnto Master
Greenhill Minister of the Gospell att Stepney the summe of Tenn
pounds within Six moneths after my decease Item I giue vnto the
poore Members of Master Greenhills Church the Summe of Twentie
pounds to be paid within Six moneths after my decease Item I
giue to the poore Widdowes of Bowe the Summe of fiue pounds
Item I giue vnto my Maid Servant Phebe Browne the summe of fiue
pounds if she shall dwell wth me att the time of my
decease Item I giue vnto my Nephew William Parks fiue pounds to
buy him a peece of plate Item I giue vnto my Brother Master
William ffoorthe and his Wife fiue poundes a peece Item I giue
vnto my Bro: Blowers and his Wife fiue pounds a peece Item I
giue vnto my Cozens William Cawby Esquire and to his Wife To
Master To Master [sic] William Smith and to his Wife Doctor
ffoorthe and his Wife To Master Jonn fforthe and to his Wife To
Master Thomas fforthe and to his Wife the Summe of fiue pounds a
peece to be paid vnto every of them Item I giue vnto my Cozin
Robert fforthe the Summe of Tenn pounds Item I giue all my
wearing Apparrell to my Sister Mary ffoorthe and Martha
Poloniers equally to be devided betwixt them Item I giue all my
plate anie houshold stuffe vnto my said Sister Martha Blowers
and to my Nephewe Doctour fforthe my Executor equallie to be
devided betwixt them Item I giue vnto my Cozin Ann Barraclio?
the Wife of Richard Barclio of Hackney the summe of Twenty
pounds to be paid vnto her within six moneths after my decease
Item I giue vnto my Cozen Mary Ray of Ipswich Twentie shillings
Item I giue vnto Martha Smith of Stepney Tenn shillings to buy
her a Ring Item I giue vnto Master Henry Barton of London and
to his Wife tenn shillings a yeere to buy each of them a Ring
Item I giue vnto Goodwife Poultrine? of Stepney Twentie
shillings to buy her a Ring Item I giue vnto Mistris Mary Runt?
Twentie shillings to buy her a Ring Item I giue vnto Mistris
Poulthouse late of Bowe twentie shillings to buy her a Ring
Item I doe make Constitute and ordaine my Nephewe Doctor William
ffoorthe the full and sole Executor of this my last Will and
Testament And I doe hereby revoke all former Wills and Codicills
by me made Item I doe make my Brother fforthe and my brother
Blowers Overseers of this my last Will and Testament In Witnesse
whereof I haue hereunto made my marke and sett my Seale This
Twelveth of Aprill One Thousand Six hundred fiftie Seaven The
marke of Elizabeth Dell Published and Declared for my last Will

This will was proved att London the Sixth
Day of August In the yeare of our Lord God One thousand Six
hundred ffiftie and Seaven before the Judge for probate of Wills
and granting Administrations lawfully authorized by the oath
by of Doctor William fforthe the sole and only Executor
named in the aboue written Will To whome Administration of all
and singular the goods Chattells and debts of the said deceased
was granted and Committed he being first legally sworne trulie
and faythfullie to administer the same |
