The Will of Michael Dawson

 

In the name of God Amen Anno Dom: March 8 1700 of Michael Dawson of Rysely in ye County of Bedd: Mason, being of a sound mind and perfect disposing mind and memmory prayse be given to God for ye same; do make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament; first and principally I commit my soul into ye hands of Almighty God my creatour; And my body to ye Earth from which it was taken there to be decently buried by my Executrix hereafter named; And touching such Worldly goods as ye Lord in mercy hath bestowed upon me I give and bequeath ye same as followeth; Item I give unto my son Robert Dawson one shilling. Item I give unto my son Michael Dawson shill: Item I give to my son Andrew Dawson one shilling to be paid to them twelve months after my decease. Item I give to my daughter Elizabeth Throwgood one shilling / to my daughter Susan Hull one shilling to be paid to them twelve months after my decease. Item I give unto my wife Alice Dawson all my goods and cattoll as brass pewter linen beding woolen and all other my goods and cattoll both indoors and out of what nature & quality or condition for *** ye same use or be for term of her natural life for her my said wife and for her future and maintainance for her to sell any of ye said goods or part of thereof it if her nessesity perfect wants require ye same; And what goods remain after my sd wives decease then my will & meaning is that ye same shall be equally divided into two parts by two persons indifferently chosen, ye one part to be (and I give of ye same) unto my son Gregory Dawson Sarah Dawson Mary Dawson ye same part to be equally divided amongst them or ye survivors of them. And ye other part to be And (I give of ye same) unto my sd wives brother Thomas Tarry and her sister Jane Tarry and to my wives kinswoman Alice Pillgrim or ye survivors of them; upon condition that all ye said partyes to whom ye sd parts of ye sd goods are given shall bear an equall share *** my said wife. Item All ye rest of my goods and cattolls which I have not hereby disposed of my debts and funeral expences being fist paid & discharg'd I give and bequeath unto my dear and loving wife Alice Dawson whome I do make my sole executrix of this my last Will and Testament revoking all other wills formerly of me made. In witness whose of I ye said Michael Dawson & have unto sett my hand and seals ye day and year about & Written being March ye Eight 1700 ~ Signed seald and delivered in ye presonts of
