The Will of Thomas Crouch

 

In the name of God Amen I Thomas Crouch of Dunstable in the County of Bedford
Victualer (being in perfect health of body and sound and disposing Memory butt calling to mind the uncertainty of this mortall Life and being willing to settle the Estate which God hath been pleased to send me before I goe hence) Doe make and ordaine this my last Will and Testament in manner and fforme following Viz

I Comend my Soul into the hands of Allmighty God my Creator and my body I Comitt to the Earth whereof it was made to be decently buryed att the discretion of my Executrix hereafter named in humble hopes of a Joyfull Resurrection through the meritts of Jesus Christ my Saviour and Redeemer and for my Worldly estate

I dispose of the same as ffolloweth ffirst I give will divise and bequeath unto Susanna Crouch my Dear and Loveing wife All That my Messuage or Tenement with the Aptences wherein I now dwell situate standing and being in the Middle Row in Dunstable aforesaid in the said County of Bedford The Messuage or Tenement now in the occupation of ffrancis Brickett on or towards the South part And the Messuage or Tenement of Richard Moreton on or towards the North part thereof and ffront on the Kings Highway called Watling Street on or towards the East To Have and To Hold unto her the said Susanna Crouch my Wife and her Assignes for and dureing the Terme of her naturall Life and from and after her decease Then I give will devise and bequeath the said Messuage or Tenement with the apptences unto my Eldest Son John Crouch and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten And for default of such Issue I Give and bequeath the same unto Thomas Crouch my second Son and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten And for default of such Issue Then I Give and bequeath the same unto William Crouch my Third Son and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten And for default of such Issue Then I Give and bequeath the same to my Eldest Daughter Susanna Purton and to the heires of her body lawfully begotten And for default of such Issue To Ann Crouch my Youngest Daughter and to the heires of her body lawfully begotten And for default of such Issue Then to the right heires of me the said Thomas Crouch forever Item I Give and bequeath unto my said Son John Crouch the Sume of ffifty Pounds of Good and Lawfull money of Great Brittaine to be paid him within Twelve months next after my decease by my Executrix hereafter named Item I Give and bequeath unto the said Thomas Crouch my son the Sume of ffifty Pounds of like Lawfull money of Great Brittaine to be paid him within Twelve months next after my decease by my said Executrix Item I give to the said Thomas Crouch All my wearing Apparrell and Clothes I Give and bequeath unto the said William Crouch my son the Sume of ffifty Pounds of like Lawfull money of Great Brittaine to be paid him within Twelve months next after my decease by my said Executrix Item I give and bequeath unto my said Daughter Ann Crouch the Sume of ffifty Pounds of like Lawfull money of Great Brittaine to be paid her within Twelve months next after my decease by my said Executrix Item I Give and bequeath All my household Goods and ffurniture for household brewing Utensills and ffurnace which shall be in and about the said Messuage or Tenement at the time of my decease unto the said Susanna Crouch my said Dear and .........the Terme of her naturall life and from and after her decease Then I give and bequeath the said household Goods and ffurniture brewing Utensills and ffurnace unto Thomas Crouch William Crouch Susanna Purton and Ann Crouch my said Sons and Daughters equally to be divided between them share and share alike of Great Brittaine Item all the rest residue and Remainder of my Goodsand Chattles money mortgages Debts Sume and Sumes of money whatsoever due and oweing unto me from any person or persons whatsoever att the time of my decease(and which I have not hereby otherwise diposed off) after my ffunerall Charges Debts and Legacyes paid and discharged) I Give and bequeath unto Susanna Crouch my said dear and loveing wife whom I make and ordaine Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testament And I doe revoake all former and other wills by me heretofore made In Witness whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and Seale this Ninth day of December in the Eighth Yeare of the reigne of our Soveraigne Lord George by the grace of God of Great Brittaine ffrance and Ireland King defender of the ffaith And in the Yeare of our Lord Christ One Thousand Seven hundred Twenty and one
