This is the last will and testament of me
JAMES CROFT of the City of York late a plumber and glazier made 5th
November 1811 I give and devise all my freehold messuage lands
tenements and hereditaments situate and lying in the City of York
without Walmgate Bar in the suburbs of the same City and at
Huntington .... unto and tot he use of ROBERT JENNINGS of the City
of York linen draper and DAVID RUSSELL of the same palce gentleman
... upon trusts .... and payment of my debts .... my wife HANNAH
CROFT to occupy and enjoy the said premises and receive the rents
.... and during the terms of her natural life upon condition and
full confidence that she .... do and shall provide board lodging
washing wearing apparel and all other necessaries for my daughter
GRACE CROFT during the joint lives of my wife and daughter But if my
said wife shall neglect or refuse to provide necessaries for my said
daughter GRACE ..... then I direct the trustees .... shall raise
sufficient monies to provide such necessaries ... And from and after
the decease of my said wife all and singular hereuntofore devised
hereditaments and premises shall be upon the trusts and to and for
the itnerests .... as to my messuage or dwelling house close or
parcel of ground garden house and hereditaments situate without
Walmgate Bar in the occupation of [blank] Turner and myself ... for
my said son JOHN CROFT ,,, and also the messuage or dwelling house
in which my said son JOHN CROFT now lives situate in Davygate in the
City of York ..... and after the decease of the survivor of my wife
and son JOHN CROFT in trust for my son EDWARD CROFT during the term
of his natural life..... and then sell and dispose of the messuage
and dwelling house situate in Davygate by public sale or private
contract ..... and apply the money ... one moiety or half part to
pay to JAMES CROFT the son of my second son EDWARD CROFT the other
half to be placed and invest the same upon Government or Real or
other securities at interest and during the life of HANNAH CROFT the
daughter of my said son EDWARD CROFT to pay and apply the interest
to HANNAH CROFT .... then after her life for her children ..... and
as to the messuage or dwelling house situate in Coney Street in the
City of York wherein I now reside and also my two closes or parcels
of ground situate at Huntington called Great Cundall Ings and Little
Cundall Ings ..... in trust for my son EDWARD CROFT .... and after
to sell and place money out at interest for GRACE CROFT the wife of
the said EDWARD CROFT
And as to my messuage or dwelling house
situate in Stonegate now in the several occupation of ?.....? Hardy
?......? Gill spinster ?......? Prince spinster ?......? and
Williamson as tenants give to my said wife then to my son in law
HENRY ROBINSON of the City of York tea dealer ..... then to the
children of HENRY ROBINSON by my late daughter HANNAH ROBINSON
deceased
My messuage or dwelling house in Bedern in the
City of York held by lease under the Vicars Choral .... unto my said
wife .... and then to my daughter GRACE CROFT I give and bequeath my
stocks consisting of £2,989 11s 5d three per cent consolidated Bank
annuities and £178 16s five per cent Navy annuities ... to the
trustees to pay dividends and proceeds thereof ... to my wife HANNAH
CROFT... and daughter GRACE CROFT... and children of JOHN CROFT and
EDWARD CROFT and my late daughter HANNAH ROBINSON
My household furniture plate linen and china
for the use of my wife and daughter GRACE
my two executors to get 19 guineas each

.... the property without Walmgate Bar to my
wife HANNAH and after her decease to my son JOHN CROFT but if my son
dies it is to go to my daughter GRACE CROFT... 19 April 1814
