The Will of Richard Cribb
In the Name of God Amen I Richard Cribb of the Parish of Holy Trinity in the Town of Wareham in the County of Dorset Baker being weak in body……..and memory (thanks be to Almighty God for the Same) do make this my last Will and Testament…..Immortal Soul……….through the merits of……….humbly hope for Remission of Sins, and ……….Heavenly Kingdom. Likewise I Commit my…….Body to the Dust in hope of its glorious Resurrection ………..Departure hence….Interred by my Executrix herein after mentioned. Item I do as touching my Worldly Substances dispose of it in manner and form following Viz. I do Give & Bequeath unto my Daughter Frances Cribb the Summ of One Hundred and Fifty pounds, to be paid unto her by my Executrix, when she shall arrive at the age of one and twenty years, if so long she shall live, & not before: And my will is, That no Part of the said sum of One Hundred and Fifty Pounds be deducted or detained from my Daughter upon any account whatsoever, when it shall become due. And also that the payment of the Said One Hundred and Fifty pounds to my said Daughter when she shall arrive at the age of one and Twenty Years shall be deem’d and adjudged a full & sufficient Discharge of this my Legacy, without the payment of any Interest for the said money. Item I do Give Devise and Bequeath All that Messuage or Tenement with the Gardens, Outhouses and Appurtenances, now in my possession, and where I now dwell, unto my said Daughter after the Death of her Mother Frances Cribb for her life, and to the heirs of her body, Lawfully to be begotten, and so on, successively to their Heirs for ever And my further will is, that Provided my said Daughter should die without Lawfull Issue, the abovementioned Messuage or Tenement, with the Outhouses, Appurtenances and Gardens now in my possession, shall then be given, & be to the use of any person or persons whom my wife in her Lat Will and Testament shall Devise and Bequeath it unto; But with this proviso, and upon this Condition, that the person or persons who shall happen to injoy the same after the Death of my wife, and my Daughter without Lawful Issue, shall pay unto my Brother William Cribb the full summ of Fifty pounds, if he be then living; or if He be then Dead, my will is that the said Fifty pounds be paid unto my Neice Mary Cribb, the Daughter of my Deceased Brother Thomas Cribb. Item I Give Devise and Bequeath all my Real and Personal Estate whatsoever, whether Houses, Lands, Tenements, Household Goods, Shop=Goods, Wearing Apparrell, mony or mony due to me upon Book, Bills or Bonds unto my Dear and Loving Wife Frances Cribb. And Revoking all former Wills hitherto by me made, I do hereby nominate and appoint her my said wife Frances Cribb to be Sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my Hand and Seal this Tenth Day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Twenty Six 1726/7
