The Will of Jane Cribb
In the name of god amen the xivth day of Aprill in
the yeare of our Lord god 1587 I Jane Cribb the elder of Thorneford in
the Countye of Dorset widow beinge sicke in bodye but of good & pfecte
memorye god be praysed for it doe make this my last will and testament
in manner & forme followinge that is to saye fyrst & principally I give
and recommend my soule into the hands of almighty god hopyng and
beleevinge that by the meritts Death and passion of our Saviour Jesus
Christ I shall be saved and my bodye I comit to the earth to be buried
in the Church yeard of Thorneford all my worldlye goods which god hath
lent me bothe moveable and unmoveable I give and bequeathe in this
manner followynge That is first I give and bequeth unto the reparations
of the Church of Thorneford xxs and to the poore of …..I give vs Itm I
give & bequeath unto my daughter Geelian a cobberd one yearlynge heaffer
& two bushalls of malte Itm I give unto Richard Cribbe the sonne of
Robert Cribbe my horned cowe I give unto Jone Cribbe the daughter of
Thomas Cribbe a ….. yerelynge Itm I give to John Cribbe the sonne of
Henri Cribbe the beste oxe after the hewett Itm I give unto my sonne
Henrye Cribbe halfe the corne growinge nowe uppone the grounde the table
borde in the halle & the forme Itm I give to my daughter Edith Cribbe
all my Lynnen & woollen with all my stufe in my houses exceptynge that
which is alredy geven above mentioned halfe the corne & malt in the
house & haulfe the corne in the backe shed & halfe the malt in the backe
shed the browne cowe & the caulfe & pte of the bacon Itm I give unto Mr
Sladd curate vid I give unto all my godchildren iiii pence a peece The
rest of my goods not geven nor bequeathed I give and bequethe to Thomas
Cribbe my sonne whome I ordayne & make my whole & sole executor In
witness hereof I have caused this my last will & testament to be writen
the daye and yere above specified These men also beryng witness John
