The Will of John Cox

 

In the Name of God Amen I John Cox of Weymouth in Dorset Mariner now belonging to her Maj’s Ship Burlington Being Sick and weak in body But of sound memory And Considering the uncertainty of this mortal life Doe make and Declare this my last Will and Testament in manner following First I comend my Soul unto Almighty God my Maker, and my Body I comit to the Earth from whence it is, And as for my Worldly estate I give and bequeath the same as followeth (That is to say) All and Singular, my pay wages goods Chattells and personal Estate Whatsoever and Wheresoever of what nature kind or quality soever (Except such Wearing Apparel as I now have with me) I give and bequeath unto my Loving friend George Lytle of Weymouth aforesaid Gent. And as for my said Wearing Apparrell both Linnen and Woollen I give and bequeath unto Sarah Barnet of Deal Widow, my Nurse who now looks after me. And I doe hereby make ordain adn appoint the Said George Lytle full and Sole Executor of this my Will, And revoking all former Wills doe make and declare this only for my last Will  and Testament. In Witness Whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale the fifth day of January Anno Dom: 1704/5 And in the third yeare of the Reigne of Queen Anne over England
