In the name of God amen I Thomas Cowper of
Newton in Makerfeild within the Countye of Lancaster husbandman
sicke in bodye but of good and perfect remembrance laud and
praysse bee unto god! I doo ordeyne constitute and make this my
last will and testament in manner and forme followinge first I
commend my soule into the hands of Almightie god my Saviour and
Redeemer and my bodye to bee buryed at the p’ishe Church And for
such goods as God hath given mee the custodye of I will that
they bee bestowed in manner following First I will that my
debts and funerall expenses be ...... out of my whole goods And
for the residue of my goods I will that they bee devyded into
two equall p’ts whereof one p’te to my selfe and the other to
bee equallye devyded amongst my children It’m I will that my
p’te after my decease shallbe devyded amongst the youngest sort
of children by the discretion of myne executors hereafter named
It’m I will that Robert Cowper of Lathom my father & Edward Parr
of Newton Linendrape’ to be myne executors to execute this my
last will and testat’ as my trust is in them Also if there be
any ambiguetye doubt or stryffe I will that it be referred to
the discretion of myne executors It’m I will and desyre Henry
Gearard and John Pillinge to be over seeres of this my last will
& testament
