In the name of God, I JANE CONSTANTINE of
Carlton in the parish of Coverham, widow, being weak of body but
of sound and perfect mind and memory (blessed be the almighty
God for the same) Do make and publish this my last will and
testament in manner and form following, that is to say I will
that all my funeral expenses and just debts be fully discharged
by my executor hereafter named
I also give and bequeath to my daughter
ALICE, wife of JONATHAN RYDER of Gammersgill the sum of £30,
also I give and bequeath to my daughter ISABEL, the wife of JOHN
LODGE of Harmby the sum of £25. To my granddaughter DOROTHY,
daughter of MATTHEW DIXON of Middleham the sum of £10 which fore
mentioned legacies shall be paid by my executor within twelve
months of my decease, but in case any of the legatees shall die
before the legacies become due then my will is that the legacy
or any part or dividend thereof shall not be payable to the
others, or to any other claiming it.
I give to my brother RICHARD CONSTANTINE
of Hebden the sum of £5 and in case my brother RICHARD should
die before the legacy becomes due then it shall be equally
divided between his sons HENRY and RICHARD.
Also I give to my daughter JENNET the wife
of WILLIAM RIPLEY of Gammersgill the yearly annuity of £3 the
first payment to become due on Martinmas after my decease and
every Martinmas thereafter during her natural life
Lastly as to the residue and remainder of
my estate I give and bequeath the same to my son JOHN
CONSTANTINE of Carlton whom I hereby appoint executor of this my
last will and testament revoking all others,
Whereof I have set my hand and seal this
23rd day of February 1748
