The Will of John Collins

 

In the Name of God Amen I John Collins of Tebworth in the parish of Chalgrave in the County of Bedford yeoman beinge ill in body But in perfect Sense and memory thanks be to god thereforeAnd Consideringe the uncertainty of this Life and the certaintly of Death Doe therefore make and ordain this my Last will and testament in manner and forme followinge That is to Say first and principally and above all Earthly things I will my Sole to god that gave itt trustinge in and thorow the death and pacon of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to Obtaine Life Everlastinge in the kingdom of heaven with the Elect and Chosen people of God and for my body to be Decently buried att the discretion of my executor hereafter named and for my worldly Estate as the Lord of his marcy hath lent me I give and Despense the same as followeth Item I give and bequeath unto Henry Collins my brother the Sume of five pounds of Lawfull money of England to be paid to him within such Convenient time as my executor and over Seare of this my will shall think fitt and Convenient and att severall payments Item I Give and bequeath unto Richard Peirson my Grand Child twenty shillinges of Lawfull money of England to be paid to him within one yeare next after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto Jane Osborne my daughter all my Bedinge and Linen Item I give and bequeath unto all my Sonns in Law One shillinge apeece to be paid to them within one month after my decease Item I give and bequeath unto John Collins my Sonn my best Couverlit any thing herein written or Contained to the Contrary thereof In anywise notwithstandinge Item I make and Ordain John Collins aforesaid my Sonn Executor of this my will and testament Desiringe him to pay the said Legacies aforesaid accordinge to the true intent of this my will And my will is that what money and personall Estate shall have Left after my Legacies and Debts and ffunerall Expnces And all mannor of Charges and every the Courts in proveinge this my will and other Charges in Court whatsoever are Discharged I desire that such Overplus shall Remain in the hands of my Executor and him to be from time to time att his pleasure Despense of to such of my poorer Children and Grandchildren or both with the advise and Descretion of William ffurman my Sonn in Law who I desire to be Over Seear of this my will And to be amongst my Relations in their discretion at Leasure Imployed for their help ?..And I doe hereby make void all former wills by me made In witness whereof I the said John Collins the Elder have hereunto sett my hand and seale this seventeenth Day of April in the one and thirtieth yeare of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord George the Second by the Grace of god of England Scotland ffrance and Ireland kinge Defender of the faith Anno Dom 1679
