The Will of Carmi Coles

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Carmi Coles of Southsea in the County of Southampton Superannuated Joiner from Portsmouth Dockyard Whereby I dispose of all my worldly estate and effects in manner following that is to say that I direct that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expences by fully paid and satisfied out of my personal estate I give and bequeath all my household goods and furniture money due owing or belonging to me or payable at my decease with the residue of my personal estate unto my daughter Emma Lavinia Coles to and for her own sole absolute use and benefit for ever  I give and devise unto my son William Coles my freehold messuage tenement heridtaments and premises being number Fifty two Grigg Street Southsea aforesaid and now in the occupation of Mrs Johnson To hold the saim unto him his heirs and assigns for ever I give and devise unto my son Edward Purkis Coles my freehold messuage tenement and premises being number Fifty six Grigg Street Southsea aforesaid and now in the occupation of Mrs Jenkins to hold the same unto him his heirs and assigns for ever I give and devise my freehold messuage dwellinghouse and premises with the yard garden and appurtenances situate and being Number Forty one West Street Southsea now in my own occupation with the residue of my real estate unto my said daughter Emma Lavinia Coles To hold the same to her her heirs and assigns for ever independent of any husband she may have I hereby nominate constitute and appoint my friends Henry Leigh of Portchester in the County of Hants Pipemaker and Samuel Sutton Scott of Southsea aforesaid Builder Executors of this my last Will and testament Hereby revoking all former Wills by me made I declare this to be and contain my last Will In Witness whereof I the said Carmi Coles the Testator have to this my last Will and testament contained in two sheets of paper set my hand and seal in manner following that is to say to the first sheet hereto annexed my hand and to this second and last sheet my hand and seal this eighteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty eight

Carmi Coles [signature] Signed sealed and acknowledge by the said Carmi Coles the Testator as and for his last Will and Testament on the day of the date in the presence of use present at the same time who have at his request in his presence and in the presence of each other subscribed our names as Witnesses hereto     Esther Me?um W.A. Bridges

 

 

Proved at Winchester the 2nd day of February 1870 by the Oaths of Henry Leigh and Samuel Sutton Scott the Executors to whom administration was granted   The testator Carmi Coles was late of West Street Southsea in the County of Southampton Superannuated Joiner from Portsmouth Dock Yard and died on the 2nd day of January 1870 at West Street aforesaid
