The Will of John Colegrave

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Colgrave of Burdup in the Parish of Swalcliffe in the County of Oxford Butcher I give and devise unto my Wife Sarah All that my Messuage or Tenement and Close in Burdup aforesaid and called Lambs House and Close To hold to my said Wife Sarah and to her Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give and devise All those my Closes or Inclosed Grounds in Shutford in the Parish of Swalcliffe aforesd unto my said Wife Sarah for and during the term of her natural life and from and after her decease I give and devise the same unto my son William his Heirs and Assigns for ever Subject nevertheless and I do hereby charge my said Estate at Shutford with the Payment of ffour shillings a Week unto my daughter Ann for and during the term of her natural life the first Payment thereof to be made immediately after my decease And I do direct the said sum of ffour shillings a Week to be paid into the Proper Hands of my said Daughter Only and not to her Assigns and in case my said Daughter shall at any time sell or Part with the same then I do direct that the same shall cease and be no longer paid or payable Also Subject and I do hereby charge my said Closes or Inclosed Grounds in Shutford aforesaid with the Payment of ffive Pounds a Year unto my Daughter Sarah the Wife of William Miles to whom I do hereby give and bequeath the same to be paid to my said Daughter only and that her receipts shall be sufficient discharges for the same notwithstanding her Present for any future Coverture and that the same shall not be subject or liable to the Debts or Controul of her Present or any future Husband The first payment of the said Annuity to my said Daughter Sarah to be paid within Twelve Months next after my decease Also I give and devise All that my one Yard Land with the Appurtenances in Tysoe in the County of Warwick unto my son John his Heirs and Assigns for ever And as to all the Rest Residue and Remainder Of my Messuages Lands Tenements Hereditaments and Real Estate whatsoever and wheresoever (save only my Estate at Wroxton in the County of Oxford ) I give and devise the same unto my said Son William and to Heirs and Assigns for ever Also I give and bequeath unto my Son Edward the Sum of ffifty Pounds to be paid to him within Twelve Months next after my decease All Rest and Residue of my Personal Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever subject to the Payment of the said Legacy to my said Son Edward and to the Payment of my just Debts and ffuneral Expences I give and bequeath the same unto my said Wife Sarah and my said Son William in equal shares and proportions to and for their own use and benefit And Lastly I do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Sarah and my said Son William Executrix and Executor of this my said last Will and Testament contained in two Sheets of Paper to each Sheet thereof set my hand and seal this sixth day of January one thousand seven hundred and ninety six John Colegrave
