In the Name of God Amen I Richard Coker of the Parish of Portsea in the County of Southampton, Shoemaker, being in perfect health and my reasoning Faculties unimpaired considering the brevity of Life, and the certainty of Death, do make this My last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say- First I commend my Soul to God, as into the hands of a merciful and faithful Creator- My Body I commit to the Earth in hope of a joyfull Resurrection to a better Life~

As for my worldly Goods~ All that Messuage, Tenement or dwelling House, with all the appurtenances thereto belonging, situate in Havant Street in the Parish of Portsea, aforesaid, with all that Piece or Parcell of Land behind the same and every part thereof which I purchased of Mrs Ann Eyer, I give and bequeath the whole and every part thereof to my beloved Wife Elizabeth, to and for her own disposal- [Likewise, whatever I may be possessed of at the time of my decease, whether in Money, Stock in Trade, Household Furniture Wearing Apparell, or any other Commodity whatsoever I give and bequeath the whole and every part thereof to my said Wife Elizabeth] depending on her known and well approved honour to discharge all my lawfull Debts~ And I do hereby appoint My said Wife Elizabeth my whole and sole Executrix, desiring that she my said Wife may order and dispose of my Effects in every part thereof as she shall think proper without hindrance or opposition from any person or persons whatsoever In Witness wherof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Fourth day of April in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Seven Richd Coker
