In the Name of God Amen I John Coker of Portsea in
the County of Southampton Caulker being Sick and Weak in Body but of
sound and Perfect Memory and
understanding (Praised be Allmighty God for the same) Doe for the
preventing and avoiding of all Contoversies after my Decease make
Publish and Declare these presents to be and Contain my Last Will and
Testament First and Principally I resign my Soul to Almighty God and my
Body I committ to the Earth to be Interred at the Discretion of my
Executrix hereinafter named and my Worldly estate I dispose of as
followeth (That is to say) All Those Three Messuages or Tenements in the
Yards Gardens Backsides and Appurtenances thereunto belonging Situate in
Portsea aforesaid one of which I now Dwell in, one other in the
possession of Daniel Palmer & the other in the possession of Thomas
Loader I give and Devise unto my Loving Wife Jane for and during the
Term of her Naturall Life and from and after her Decease I give and
Devise the Messuage Tenement with the Yard Garden Backsides and
Appurtenances thereunto belonging wherein I now Dwell and which I
purchased of Daniel Lownder unto my Kinsman John Coker Son of Richard
Coker and to his Heirs and Assigns forever And from and immediately
after the Decease of my said Wife Jane I give devise and bequeath the
Messuage or Tenement with the Yard Garden Backsides and Appurtenances
thereunto belonging which is now in the possession of Daniel Palmer
which I lately purchased of John Bowes unto my Friends Jacob Towers of
Portsea aforesaid Hopp Merchant and Benjamin Hooper of the same place
Tallow Chandler and to their Heirs and Assigns upon this Special Trust
and Confidence That they or the Survivour of them or the Heirs and
Assigns of such Survivour with all Convenient speed after the Decease of
my said Wife Jane Sell and Dispose of the said Messuage or Tenement with
the Yard Garden Backsides and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and
Twenty Pounds of Lawfull Money of Great Britain Part of the Money
Arising by such Sale shall be by them Distributed among such Poor People
(called .....) as they shall think proper and the remainder of the Money
arising by such Sale shall be Equally shared and Divided between Richard
Coker and Mary Coker (Son and Daughter of my said Brother Richard Coker)
share and share alike And from and imediately after the Decease of my
said Wife Jane I give and Devise All that Messuage Tenement with the
Yard Garden Backsides and Appurtenances thereunto belonging and which is
the last that I purchased of the said John Bowes and now in the
possession of Thomas Loader unto my Brother Richard Coker for and during
the Term of his Natural Life and from and after his Decease I give and
Devise the same unto his Son Thomas Coker and to his Heirs and Assigns
forever And all the rest residue and remainder of my Estate and Effects
of what Nature or kind soever That I am or at the time of my Decease
shall be in any ways Intitled unto either in possession Revertion
Expectancy or otherwise howsoever and which I have Power to Dispose of
(after the payment of my Just Debts and Funerall Expences) I Give Devise
and bequeath unto my said Wife Jane and to her Heirs Administrators and
Assigns for ever And I Do hereby nominate and appoint my said Wife Jane
full and sole Executrix of this my Last Will and Testament In Witness
whereof (Revoking and making void all former and other Wills by me at
any time heretofore made) I have to this my last Will sett my hand and
seal this Twenty Ninth Day of December in the Year of our Lord One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Thirty Six
