The Will of Mary Coates

 

This is the last Will and Testament of me Mary Coates of Ellastone Mill in the County of Stafford, Farmer and Miller, First I nominate and appoint John Gerrard of Ellastone Mill, County of Stafford and Joseph Udale of Ellaston in the said County Executors of this my Will, Secondly, I direct all my just debts funeral and testamentary Expenses to be paid as soon as convenient after my decease, I give devise and bequeath to my Brother John Gerrard, all my Freehold Property being situated in the Parish of Mayfield and County of Stafford now in the occupation of John Broatch, and I also give devise and bequeath to my Brother John Gerrard all my Farming Stock, Stock in Trade, and Furniture whatsoever and wheresoever. Subject to the aforesaid John Gerrard paying the under mentioned Legacies, To Samuel Smith of Onecote County of Stafford, I give and bequeath Fifteen Pounds £15, To Sarah Mathers, of the Parish of Kniveton, County of Derby, I give and bequeath Five Pounds £5 and to my Brother Johns’ Children, I give and bequeath Ten Pounds each £10 namely, John, Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann, Walter, William, Joseph, and Thomas, if any of the before mentioned should die before the before named Legacy of £10 is paid it must be divided amongst their Children, And lastly revoking all former Wills I declare this to be my last Will and Testament, I witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament written on one sheet of paper set my hand this Fifth day of December, One Thousand eight hundred and fifty nine.

Signed published and Declared by the said Testator as and for her last Will and Testament, in the presence of us who in her presence, and of each other, and at her request, have subscribed our names as Witnesses thereto.

Testatrix died 29th March 1860.
Proved in the District Registry of Lichfield on the 23rd May 1860 by both the Executors.
