I John Coates Vicar of Huddersfield in the County of York declare this to be my last Will and Testament first it is my earnest and hearty prayer to Almighty God that of his infinite mercy in Christ Jesus he will give to every one of my family that grace which hath the promise of the life that now is and of which is to come I will and direct that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid by my executors I give and bequeath to my dear Wife Mary Coates and to all my Children who shall be living at the time of my decease all my estate and effects to be divided equally amongst them my said Wife Mary Coates to determine the mode of distribution and to have the choice of such parts of the furniture and Goods according to her proportionate share as she may judge proper and if any of my Children aforesaid shall die before me and shall leave behind them Children born in lawful wedlock I hereby bequeath to those my grand Children such part of my property as would by the aforesaid bequest fall to the share of their father or mothers respectively I also hereby appoint my much esteemed friend Mr John Horsfall of the Well in Huddersfield and my dear Son John Coates Executors of this my Will In Witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal this fifth day of June in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen John Coates
