This is the Last Will and testament of me JAMES CLARKSON of Gallows
Green near Brentwood in the County of Essex, Gentlemen. I appoint my
dear wife SUSANNA CLARKSON and PHILIP PAIN of the Green Man Inn,
Navestock, County of Essex my executors.
I
give and bequeath to my wife all my furniture plate linen china
books and household effects (except my silver cup, my silver
snuffbox and my gold watch and chain) and also the sum of £700 for
her own absolute use and benefit. I give and bequeath the following
legacies tot he persons hereinafter named videlicet
To
the said PHILIP PAIN the sum of £10 10s .
To
MARY MARGARET BOULDRON the sum of £50.
To
my brother CHRISTOPHER CLARKSON £150.
To
my brother MATTHEW CLARKSON £150 and also my silver cup.
To
my brother JOHN CLARKSON £150
To
MARY ELIZABETH CLARKSON the daughter of my late brother WILLIAM
CLARKSON £100
To
my nephew FRANK CLARKSON £100
To
my nephew THOMAS CLARKSON £40
To
ALICE CLARKSON the wife of my said nephew THOMAS CLARKSON £40 for
her sole and separate use and to be paid to her upon her separate
recipt.
To
my wife's nephew WILLIAM MARR £19 19s
To
WILLIAM FENNER formerly coachman to the late John Wright Esq £19 19s
I
give and bequeath to CHICHESTER HAMILTON Esq of Red House, Ardee in
Ireland the silver snuff box which was given me by the late John
wright Esq.
And
I give and bequeath to WILLIAM CLARKSON son of my late brother
WILLIAM CLARKSON my gold atch and chain.
I
hereby confirm the gift of my freehold property at Middleham
Yorkshire to my brother MATTHEW CLARKSON and I give and bequeath to
him all sums of money that may be due to me at the time of my
decease on mortgage of the same proeprty.
I
give and demise to my said wife SUSANNA CLARKSON all my copyhold
property situate at Kelvedon Common consisting of a house, four
cottages and land and also all other my real estates ... and subject
to the payment of all my jsut debts .... I give and bequeath all the
residue of my personal estate unto my said wife.... As witness my
hand this 6 April 1878
